Nevada Outdoor School Programs Coordinator Position Description Outlined below are the responsibilities of the Nevada Outdoor School (NOS) Programs Coordinator as well as desired skills, experience, and benefits.

Nevada Outdoor School inspires exploration of the natural world, responsible stewardship of our habitat and dedication to community.The NOS Programs Coordinator will:
⮚ Report directly to the NOS Director of Programming ⮚ Work onsite at the Nevada Outdoor School Winnemucca office ⮚ Act as a leader and positive role model for other NOS program staff and AmeriCorps members ⮚ Always strive to upholdNOS Mission and Core Values General Responsibilities:
▪ Schedule, coordinate, monitor and report on allYouth Programs:
Nature in My World (outdoor learning experiences for K-8 classrooms), Nature in the Park, Nature Buddies, Nature Investigators and Nature Explorers Summer Camps ▪ Schedule, coordinate, assist in training, monitor and report on allTraining Programs:
Formal trainings such as Leave No Trace, Tread Lightly, Ride Safe, Ride Smart (RS2) OHV Safety programs and Outdoor Skills workshops ▪ Schedule, coordinate, monitor and report on allCommunity Programs:
Nature Clubs, Road Shows (mobile outreach and education booth that travels statewide) and partnered programs ▪ Attend Road Shows and partnered programs on weekends with AmeriCorps Outdoor Educators (usually one event a month) ▪ Work with NOS Communications and Marketing Specialist to advertise and report on Programs in local and social media - time to be paid for by non-federal sources ▪ Be willing to travel overnight throughout the state for various Youth, Training and Community Programs (4 to 6 times each year on average) ▪ Ensure that all NOS equipment and program supplies are checked out, returned, checked back in and are in good working condition ▪ Assist in maintaining a safe, efficient, creative, respectful, and healthy working environment ▪ Act as immediate supervisor to AmeriCorps Outdoor Educators in absence of Director of Programming Coordinate and oversee the delivery ofNevada Outdoor School Youth, Training and Community Programs:
▪ Assist Director of Programming with supervising and delegating assignments to AmeriCorps Outdoor Educators, assuring follow through on completion of assigned tasks ▪ Respond to and support AmeriCorps Outdoor Educators ▪ Schedule all NOS programs and ensure accuracy of programming & outreach calendars ▪ Work with schools and teachers to schedule school-based programs and provide consistent, accurate and informative communication related to NOS programs (including organizing and reporting on teacher/school feedback) ▪ Assist Director of Programming to train, coach and evaluate AmeriCorps Outdoor Educators on teaching methods, program curriculum and delivery, including timely program debriefs ▪ Maintain high standards in regards to scientific accuracy, un-biased presentation and audience appropriateness ▪ Assist with data collection, evaluation and program reporting for various grants ▪ Coordinate with community partners, NOS staff and AmeriCorps members to schedule and host NOS outdoor education and training programs throughout the year. ▪ Acquire and/or maintain certification as Tread Lightly! Trainer and Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor - to be paid for with NOS training grants ▪ Schedule and coordinate OHV Safety, Tread Lightly! and Leave No Trace Trainer courses and awareness workshops ▪ Assist in management of NOS's Leave No Trace Youth Gold Standard Program ▪ Assist in maintaining relationships with outdoor user groups, community organizations, local business, government agencies and non-profits for program collaboration ▪ Schedule, oversee, and participate in community programs such as community hikes, nature clubs, ATV rides, clean-ups and various outreach events Continually work towards personal growth and sustainability of NOS programs. ▪ Assist with grant and other funding proposals as required - time to be paid for by non-federal sources ▪ Assist with NOS Fundraising Events to help fund aspects of NOS programs - time to be paid for by non-federal sources ▪ Ensure timely creation of monthly expected expenses and supply lists for NOS programming and operating expenses ▪ Collection of adequate data for necessary grant and program reporting ▪ Willing to acquire Leave No Trace, Tread Lightly and OHV Safety certifications ▪ Network in all possible circumstances for the benefit of the program ▪ Participate in professional development opportunities that support NOS and advance professional goals ▪ Assist in programs as neededSkills/Experience Desired:
▪ College degree, Technical School Diploma or at least 2 years' experience in related field ▪ Supervisory Experience ▪ Training/experience in coordinating and communications: excellent writing and public speaking skills ▪ Leadership skills: ability to think critically, organize and manage multiple projects, ability and willingness to delegate tasks ▪ Excellent organizational and time management skills and must be able to multi-task ▪ Knowledge/experience with teaching youth and/or adults, curriculum design, and inquiry-based teaching methods ▪ Knowledge of and experience with Tread Lightly! and Leave No Trace programs ▪ Experience riding ATV/OHVs and a passion for educating the public on responsible riding practices ▪ Passion for the outdoors, responsible outdoor recreation, education, youth development and rural Nevada ▪ Basic computer skills: Google Workspace and Microsoft word processing, spreadsheets, and power points. ▪ Valid driver's License and good driving recordBenefits:
