N/A More about this job > Description The Office of the Queens County District Attorney (QDA) is currently seeking a Community Coordinator for our Youth Empowerment Program within our Community Partnerships Division (CPD). The CPD staff focuses on building strong community partnerships, addresses quality of life concerns, and oversees crime prevention and mentoring programs. The Community Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of duties including, but not limited to: Creating, developing, refining, and delivering programming to youth from all over Queens County. Teaching one or more Youth Empowerment programs. Creating and designing presentations and videos to be used as teaching tools. Responsibly teaching youth about the criminal justice system and making positive life choices. Working with schools, city agencies, and community partners to recruit and identify youth in need of programming. Traveling to locations to engage in youth activities. Engaging in sports and other hands-on activities with youth. Creating and maintaining records of youth program participation and information required for program reporting. Monitor enrollment and adjust recruitment to ensure programs maintain target numbers. Creating, developing, and maintaining relationships with QDA staff in order to coordinate participation in community outreach efforts. Researching topics relevant to youth issues and program delivery. Providing language assistance to the CPD and other QDA divisions, if applicable. Providing logistics support in preparing for events in which QDA participates and/or sponsors. Assisting with other CPD functions, such as providing community outreach, participating in community events, and expanding partnerships with community organizations. Maintaining a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other collaborative opportunities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Attend weekly unit meetings and department meetings as required. Prepare weekly reports and perform periodic reporting and evaluation on the progress of the program, the engagement level, and areas of improvement.
Preferred Education and Qualification Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree is preferred. All candidates must have a high school diploma or its educational equivalent and at least one year of experience working in a professional office setting and/or working with the community and/or in the criminal justice field. Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience working with groups of children and teens. Must also have a working knowledge of computers; Microsoft Office software; and excellent oral and written communication skills (verbal, nonverbal, written). Preference will also be given to candidates that have the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, as well as those that possess strong collaborative, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills. Preference will also be given to candidates with knowledge of video editing and presentation tools. Bilingual skills are a plus.

$50,000 Will be required to work evenings/and or weekend hours based on CPD needs.
