Job Description:
SUNY Oneonta is hiring a dedicated and collaborative team member to serve as the Student & Family Engagement Coordinator (SFEC) . This position serves as the liaison for transfer traditions and family engagement within the Office of Student Experience. The SFEC will support ongoing efforts to engage with families of all SUNY Oneonta students while strengthening belonging and engagement among transfer students. The SFEC will also support and advance family engagement initiatives and transfer student programming through outreach, event coordination, advising, and relationship-building. In the Office of Student Experience, we center our work on the power of knowledge and connection. We intentionally design support, outreach, and initiatives to remove barriers while celebrating student success. Our approach focuses on first-year, sophomore, transfer, and first-generation students, and this role directly contributes to those efforts by fostering connection and engagement among students and families throughout the student experience. Duties include but are not limited to: Maintaining and updating the Families@Oneonta portal, including curating content and communications for family engagement. Coordinating campus-wide family engagement events and programs, including Family Weekend and Family Spring Fling. Managing the Family Council, a group of family representatives, and facilitating insight and feedback. Facilitating monthly online engagement events (e.g., workshops, webinars, podcasts). Supervising Family Ambassadors (ESSC) and student interns who develop content for the portal, host on campus events for families and students, and co-host online workshops. Collaborating with campus partners to develop and support student and family engagement initiatives. Developing and implementing transfer-focused engagement initiatives and individualized outreach efforts through co-chairing the Transfer Taskforce and Tau Sigma Honor Society and advising the Transfer Club. Collecting and analyzing data to evaluate program effectiveness and guide continuous improvement of engagement initiatives. Working occasional evenings and weekends as needed to support student and family engagement programs and initiatives.
Salary:

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. Minimum of one year professional or two years paraprofessional experience in higher education. Experience working in a customer service setting. Experience providing student services in one or more of the following areas: peer mentoring, professional mentoring, campus activities, or family engagement in a higher education setting. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred:
Experience working directly with transfer students and/or families of college students in a student-centered office. Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and evaluating large-scale programs. Demonstrated experience with content curation and maintenance within communication platforms (e.g., CampusESP, Slate). Experience with data collection and analysis. Demonstrated use of technology such as Adobe, Microsoft, social media, and/or Canva. Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
