Sampling Program Specialist
Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) professional full-time years of related experience or an equivalent combination of relevant advanced higher education and professional experience. Advanced Excel experience (ie.pivot tables, formulas, etc). Experience reading and/or writing technical reports. A willingness to drive fairly long distances in New York State in large pickup trucks is required. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Engineering or related technical area. Experience working in solid waste research. Experience sorting waste. Familiarity with SUNY processes and/or operations as a student or employee. Team leadership experience.Brief Description of Duties:
The position will support efforts to run a solid waste sampling program in conjunction with the project Principal Investigators (PIs) and the Sampling Managers. This position works in conjunction with the project Principal Investigators and reports directly to the Sampling Program Manager. Highly qualified candidates will have excellent data management skills demonstrated through project examples or other tangible evidence. They will have previous experience demonstrating responsible behavior on teams that have completed complicated assignments. Organizing sampling data and following existing templates to help create site-specific reports and comprehensive seasonal and annual sampling reports for stakeholders and our website under the oversight of the Sampling Research Manager. Work with a team of full-time samplers to sort MSW and recyclables at solid waste facilities. Prepare and complete site-specific work plans for sampling events to be held approximately 10-12 weeks per year and have the responsibility for maintaining sampling equipment inventories and packing lists for fieldwork. Involved in the preparation of scholarly articles, web content, and grant submissions, and presenting such output at professional venues. Timely reporting of fieldwork expenses. Other duties or projects, as assigned appropriate to rank and departmental mission.Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
