Job Description

Senior Research Support Specialist Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time work experience in a research laboratory engaged in medical, biomedical, or behavioral research. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in psychology, public health or a related field. Experience with first responder populations. Experience with clinical trials research.
Brief Description of Duties:
This senior research support specialist (senior RSS) position will serve as the lead coordinator of a newly funded research project aimed at evaluating a resilience training program in fire fighters and emergency medical service (EMS) workers at the Stony Brook Mind-Body Clinical Research Center in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health. The senior RSS will organize weekly research meetings, track and monitor study data, oversee the recruitment of fire department and EMS organizations, pay study participants, track and monitor participants' completion of assessments, and organize, schedule and assist with study interventions. The study involves going into the community to administer workshops to local fire and EMS responders. The senior RSS will need to travel to local firehouses/emergency facilities to help with facilitating research intervention groups. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving. The incumbent will develop, monitor, coordinate and manage activities to maintain effective operation of the program. Work collaboratively with other employees, faculty and professionals to advance the goals of the project. Observe, collect and analyze data and write summary reports as necessary. May develop and maintain databases. Incumbent may be responsible for orienting others to the project/program and checking work of less experienced employees as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. •
