Summary:
The Assistant Vice President, Consulting is a key leader responsible for driving client success, supporting business growth, and fostering talent within the consulting division. This role combines strategic direction with active leadership, focusing on building strong client relationships, assisting in new business development, and mentoring up-and-coming consulting professionals. The AVP will work closely with producers, client service teams, and regional leaders to ensure outstanding service delivery and the creation of lasting value.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Leadership & Retention:
Serve as sponsor and lead consultant for key client relationships, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and growth. Collaborate with consulting and service teams to deliver high-impact solutions and maintain trusted advisor status. Actively participate in client strategy sessions and provide senior-level guidance on complex challenges.
Business Development & Onboarding:
Partner with producers and business development teams to provide technical consulting support for new business opportunities. Participate in sales meetings, pitch strategy, and proposal development to help close deals. Lead the transition from sales to service, ensuring client service teams are aligned and equipped for successful onboarding and long-term engagement.
Talent Development & Mentorship:
Work closely with Consulting Team Leads and colleagues across different regions to support a team-focused approach to projects. Help identify consultants who show strong potential and assist with their development. Offer practical training and coaching to build technical and client service skills, either by working together on projects or through organized learning sessions. Help create opportunities for team members to learn from each other and grow their careers.
Strategic & Operational Leadership:
Contribute to the strategic direction of the consulting division. Share insights on project delivery, resource allocation, and financial performance to ensure quality and profitability. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Champion transformation initiatives across the state and sub region they work in, and Central Region benefits teams. Strong interpersonal, communication, and executive presence Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop emerging talent Experience in strategizing client retention and business growth. Experience in professional services, digital transformation, or enterprise consulting Familiarity with consulting methodologies and frameworks Ability to navigate complex client environments and drive consensus. Education and/or
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in business, Management, or a related field (MBA preferred) 12+ years of consulting experience in employee benefits Proven success in client relationship management, business development, and team leadership

The base salary range for this position is $64,000 to $150,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location.
