Director of Nutrition Services Lorain, OH 44055 Hybrid work
Part-time Part-time Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, the Director of Nutrition Services provides leadership, oversight, coordination, and administrative support for all nutrition-related services in accordance with the state and local standards set out by the organization. As a member of the management team, the director of programs participates in strategic planning and budgeting initiatives in addition to problem solving. He/she works within the guidelines, policies, and mission of the organization and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned. coordination with agency leadership and organizational structure. Essential Job Functions Oversees all aspects of programs within assigned areas Ensures compliance with food safety standards, sanitation requirements, health department regulations, and applicable nutrition program guidelines Conducts operational reviews, facility walkthroughs, and program assessments to identify concerns, risks, service gaps, and opportunities for improvement Implements, manages, supervises and evaluates all program activities in accordance with National, State and Local Standards Supervises management level staff directly and program level staff indirectly Ensures timely communication of significant incidents, operational concerns, and compliance risks to the Chief of Staff and executive leadership as appropriate Assists with resolving operational and personnel concerns while escalating significant matters appropriately Assists with emergency response coordination, crisis management, and continuity of operations during staffing shortages, emergencies, or critical incidents Oversees and assists HR with the recruitment and hiring of exempt and non-exempt positions Assists in the coaching and discipline of employees Supports staff development through coaching, leadership presence, communication, and operational consistency Makes recommendations for the merit and talent management process Assists in the implementation of company policies and procedures at the programmatic level Controls and manages data management software in assigned programs Compiles, maintains, and reports on the monthly, quarterly, and annual program statistics in conjunction with Program Managers Oversees preparation of reports, corrective actions, audits, and operational documentation as assigned Ensures accurate documentation, reporting, and record retention in accordance with agency, funding, and regulatory requirements Analyzes trends in the program, identifying issues and developing and recommending solutions to the Chief of Staff and CEO Develops, implements and evaluates recruitment strategies to expand program offerings and participation Participates in the budgeting process to ensure funds are spent timely and appropriately Guides the billing process to ensure funds are correctly drawn and allocated Provides insights and program information to the Grants Manager to assist with obtaining relevant grants Collaborates with the Fund Development team to coordinate fundraising activities, tabling events, and volunteer opportunities as needed Maintains work areas and buildings for all programs by collaborating with the Director of Operations Assists with monitoring inventory, purchasing coordination, facility needs, and operational supply management Assists with oversight of food purchasing, vendor coordination, inventory control, and supply management Supports the Program Committee of the Board of Directors and other committees as assigned Expands partnerships within the community where appropriate Participates in community forums and other partner agency meetings as deemed appropriate Coordinates with the Director of Operations regarding technology, maintenance, vehicles, team trainings, and implementation of operational procedures to support effective program operations. Monitors meal quality, nutritional standards, and service delivery to ensure client satisfaction and program effectiveness Assists in coordinating emergency food service operations and continuity planning during service disruptions or emergencies Assists in maintaining safe, secure, and professional environments for clients, staff, volunteers, and visitors Ensures compliance with agency policies, licensing requirements, grant obligations, confidentiality standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations Monitors program performance outcomes and service quality to ensure effectiveness, accountability, and continuous improvement Promotes a trauma-informed, client-centered approach in service delivery and staff interaction Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Nutrition, Elder Care, or related field i.e. human services required, Master's Degree strongly preferred Minimum of 5-10 years of leadership or supervisory experience in social services, nonprofit management, human services, or related field may be considered instead of degree
  • ServSafe Manager Certified or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • HACCP Certification strongly preferred
  • Strong problem solving and group work leadership skills
  • Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related data management systems preferred
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours and respond to after-hours calls
  • Access to a vehicle and valid insurance required for local travel Experience working with older adults and individuals and families experiencing food insecurity Strong leadership, organizational, crisis management, communication, and problem-solving skills Experience with compliance monitoring, grant reporting, outreach coordination, and program management preferred Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain professionalism, and respond effectively in crisis situations High integrity, discretion, and ability to appropriately manage confidential and sensitive information Physical Requirements In order to perform the essential functions of this position successfully, the employee may be required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 50 pounds or more.
This position requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and agency procedures.
