Full Job Description Program Manager Location:
Massillon & Canton, OH Reports to:
Program Director Employment Type:
Part-Time, hourly - 20 hours/week, on-site. During the school year, this position follows a consistent, set schedule aligned with program and school hours. Due to the nature of summer events, outreach, and community engagement, candidates must also be available for occasional evening and weekend hours during summer months and for special events throughout the year. Advance notice will be provided.

Position Summary The Program Manager will lead the daily implementation and continuous improvement of The Legacy Project's elementary school mentoring programs. This role is responsible for ensuring programs are delivered with excellence and support the developmental and social-emotional growth of every student served. It also includes coordinating and recruiting volunteer mentors, supporting students, attending networking opportunities, and leading on-going training opportunities for volunteers. The Program Manager will work closely with school staff, mentors, families, and community partners to ensure consistent, high-quality programming that fosters belonging, builds confidence, and promotes positive youth development. The Program Manager will also be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data for United Way reporting purposes, assisting with other various data reporting, and family engagement events. Key Responsibilities (including, but not limited to)
Program Leadership & Implementation:
Aid in mentor outreach and community engagement efforts to ensure all programs are fully equipped with quality mentors. Identify and attend outreach opportunities as assigned. Oversee the delivery of all elementary school-based mentoring programs, ensuring sessions are engaging, consistent, and aligned with the organization's mission. Monitor program fidelity, ensuring activities align with the Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets and social-emotional learning best practices. Support program growth through effective communication with schools, families, and community stakeholders. Track and report program data, including student participation, mentor engagement, and key success metrics. Lead mid-year and end-of-year program evaluations to assess impact and guide improvement. Administer beginning and end-of-year student surveys. Collect and share program highlights and stories weekly, taking photos for social media. Serve as a mandated reporter and uphold student safety. Document using Incident Reports. Communicate regularly with the Program Team Lead and/or Program Director about needs, concerns, and celebrations. Attend all team meetings and trainings, as assigned. Support Family Engagement events by inviting families and working with the schools and attending the events to build relationships with families that we serve.
Team & Volunteer Support:
Provide on-site coaching and guidance to mentors, ensuring they are equipped with tools and strategies to build meaningful relationships with students. Receive mentor call-offs and arrange coverage; track attendance and follow-up. Communicate regularly with mentors. Build and maintain strong relationships with school staff and mentors Ensure mentors are equipped with materials and curriculum guidance each week. Lead ongoing mentor trainings four times a year, provided by the Program Director.
Partnerships & School Relations:
Serve as the primary liaison for assigned schools, maintaining strong relationships with school staff. Provide schools and districts with good stories, photos, and items to share. Collaborate with school staff to identify students who may benefit from mentoring support. Collaborate with the school staff to identify and connect students with opportunities in external programs. Represent The Legacy Project at school and community events to promote engagement and partnership.
Program Evaluation & Reporting:
Collect and analyze attendance, survey, and outcome data to evaluate program impact. Prepare date for United Way reporting and internal stakeholders, highlighting outcomes, stories of impact, and continuous improvement efforts. Use data to identify trends, celebrate successes, and recommend strategies for program enhancement. Other duties as assigned Qualifications A strong desire to make a positive, lasting impact on students and their families by fostering mentoring relationships between mentors and students. Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 3-5 years of experience in youth development, education, or program management. Strong understanding of social-emotional learning and elementary student development. Strong leadership and problem-solving skills. Experience working collaboratively with schools and community partners. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; able to manage multiple priorities effectively. Excellent communication and follow-through. Proficient with the Microsoft Office Ecosystem, including but not limited to TEAMS, Forms, OneDrive, Outlook, and Excel and its functions. Ability to use data and feedback to inform program improvements. Have access to reliable transportation and the ability to lift over 25 lbs.
