Job Description

OVERVIEW
The Cognitive (COG) Specialist is assigned to facilitate client group sessions on prosocial decision-making in structured and curriculum-driven classroom setting, approximately 25 - 35 hours per week. The Cognitive Specialist is expected to relay any participation concerns or relevant client information directly to the respective Case Manager and Program Director. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10:00AM-6:00PM, Wednesday and Saturday 12:00PM-8:00PM. Off Sunday and Monday.
FACILITATION
Using established curriculum, facilitate all Cognitive-Based treatment groups within the facility. Provide detailed reports to Case Managers and Program Director regarding any resident participation issues or concerns, as well as any relevant resident data that may be integral to their respective treatment plan. Provide bi-monthly evaluation reports.
PROGRAM COORDINATION
To report to Program Director and Case Managers regarding resident participation in groups and relay any concerns. Maintain any progress notes and documentation related to treatment of residents in group. To perform other activities as assigned by the Program Director. Attend all probationary training, unit meetings, and any additional training assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree, no experience, or Bachelor's Degree with two years' experience in the field of Social Services. Knowledge of Criminal Justices system, behavioral process and integrated staff format expected. Demonstrated ability to manage group behavior. Demonstrated ability to deliver quality instruction of standardized curriculum. Must possess strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must possess a valid driver's license and a driving record that doesn't preclude the employee from being covered by agency liability insurance. Maintain a record which does not preclude the employee from working with offenders as required by regulatory agencies. Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software. Must have 40 hours of training per year that pertains to job description.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of sitting in a classroom environment. Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
