The Program Coordinator plans, implements, and oversees Spark program activities and events for Connected Lane County. Further duties include assisting the Spark program through development and outreach efforts, developing partnerships, communicating with participants and families, and collecting data. The Program Coordinator plays a critical role in the Spark program team by working closely with the Spark team to ensure underrepresented youth in our community have access to quality, equitable, extended out-of-school education and training opportunities for STEM. The coordinator identifies areas of improvement and implements effective solutions to help the program scale. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about bringing STEM learning to traditionally underrepresented youth, passionate about helping youth succeed, and who brings a strong growth mindset. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading STEM workshops, coordinating programs and event planning, is eager to take on challenges and implement change to ensure success, works well in a cross-functional team, and brings a creative approach to solving problems.DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate the work of the Spark program team, partners, and assigned committees and workgroups. Design and teach STEM workshops and activities during the school day and after-school programs with middle and high school youth across Lane County. Coordinate program activities such as Invention Lab, Invention Club/MESA, STEM workshops, school field trips, and more. Serve as the Oregon MESA regional coordinator for Lane County Host Invention Clubs and support advisors leading MESA chapters in participating middle schools Coordinate outreach and communication to maintain existing partnerships and identify and develop new partnerships to bring STEM programming to public middle schools. Travel between schools is required and mileage is reimbursable. Track program data and monitor program expenditures. Assist in the development of grant proposals and reports to support program initiatives. Collaborate with other Connected Lane County teams/Program Coordinators on additional organization programs and initiatives. Work with the Marketing team to develop program materials. Participate in state forums, meetings, conferences, and training. Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience A bachelor's degree in education or other related STEM fields is highly preferred. Secondary classroom or instruction experience is highly preferred. Two years of successful experience in project or program coordination is highly preferred. Experience applying concepts of Collective Impact preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of STEM fields and skills required, with an emphasis in computer science, engineering, and manufacturing technology (CAD) highly preferred. Ability to run workshops and teach project-based learning using the engineering design process to middle and high-school-aged youth. Ability to facilitate an inclusive learning environment, and lead, and mentor youth. Well-developed communication skills (both oral and written) and courtesy are required to develop and maintain positive relationships with diverse youth populations and internal and external stakeholders. Spanish language skills are preferred. Highly developed organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines are both required. Initiative and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to creatively problem-solve and try new approaches. Ability to work harmoniously with internal staff, grantors, and agency partners. Ability to make presentations to and facilitate diverse groups, solicit input, and synthesize and summarize information and ideas for program development. Proficiency with Google Suite is required. A valid Oregon driver's license or ability to obtain one by hire date is required. A First Aid/CPR card is preferred (internal training is available).
