Parent Class Educators Work Schedule:
Attend all on-boarding and training prior to the program. Paid preparation and training after school/evenings prior to the start of the program. Plan and attend the family orientation meeting the week prior to the program. Parent class educators plan and facilitate classes for parents Facilitate 8 hours worth of parent education sessions, the length of class offered and how many days is week flexible EKT program dates: Mondays-Thursdays beginning Aug 4 through August 15th
Job Overview:
EKT is a two-week summer program at SUN schools that offers children and families a jump-start into a successful kindergarten year. The program focuses on academics, play, arts and music, exploration and developing friendships in an inclusive and joyful classroom.
The program has two components:
a two week program for incoming kindergarten students, and provides family education sessions that are required. EKT partners with SUN and Multnomah County to offer the program. The role of parent class educator plans and leads activities for parents and guardians of EKT students to foster connections, build confidence in supporting their child, and shares helpful resources. This position requires prior experience in teaching adults.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Plan, prepare and facilitate activities/classes for parents/guardians of children in the EKT program that help support a successful transition into kindergarten. Teach adults about how to support their child in kindergarten and develop routines. Foster a supportive environment for families to learn and grow. Recruit students and families for the program in collaboration with SUN site manager Consult and collaborate with classroom teacher to align instruction and bring in guest speakers. Create a welcoming, engaging and joyful kindergarten transition program. Collect and report data
Compensation:
$30 an hour
Qualifications:
State of Oregon TSPC license with applicable authorization, proper endorsement, highly qualified status Current first-aid card.
