What is needed for this job as our
Youth Program Specialist:
18+ years of age 2+ years of experience working in child care
  • does not have to be professional Possess leadership skills or experience Are able to perform life saving skills in First Aid/CPR/AED/Emergency Oxygen (training provided) The responsibilities we will trust you with as our
Youth Program Specialist:
Stay & Play:
Maintaining a fun, safe, and clean environment for children to play and learn Offers assistance to co-workers; frees hands to help others Asks the children questions and builds on that information during subsequent visits Greets parents with a smile; learns their names whenever possible; asks parents open-ended questions and builds on that information during subsequent visits Consistently greets parents at pick-up with positive feedback about their children, even if the ensuing negative feedback is necessary; ends the conversation with an affirmation Interacts with co-workers and members respectfully Vigilantly monitor the children and their environment Prevention of risk, bullying, and misbehavior Communicates with the team on duty to prioritize the current tasks at hand Follows all opening/closing procedures

  • when working during opening/closing shifts Reads weekly Hot Sheets and responds to Coordinator when prompted; seeks clarification to any Hot Sheet items Attends required organizational and departmental meetings Demonstrates a willingness to further understand child development concepts and/or behavior management skills through materials provided by
Supervisor Gymnastics:
Provide a high-level of instruction for youth gymnastics programs Leading fun, safe, and educational gymnastics classes Strong leadership and mentorship for assistant/junior coaches Building strong relationships with members and guests of all ages and skill levels Confident spotting of advanced tumbling and apparatus skills Assisting in program coordination and long-term planning Assist in training and building a quality coaching staff to carry out the program mission Assisting directors in developing new gymnastics-centered fitness programs What you can expect: Support from an amazing team which includes training you on expectations Opportunities to learn & grow at the YMCA Being a part of a non-profit organization that works to make the community stronger Great members to work with every day!
