40 hours per week; primarily in person, with occasional evenings or weekends as needed

Our mission is to provide a safe, welcoming space where all children—especially those at risk or with disabilities—can learn, grow, and thrive through hands-on experiences, creativity, and community connection. Housed in the beautifully restored former St. Mary Magdalene Church, our unique setting features a state-of-the-art ropes course, after-school programs, summer camps, team-building workshops, and enrichment activities built around our five pillars: Physical Health, Nutrition, Academics, STEAM, and Mental Health. Guided by our values of inclusivity, empowerment, and excellence, we work to ensure every child feels supported, challenged, and inspired. Position Summary Dragon's Den is seeking a strong, organized, and confident Program Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, staffing, and quality of our after-school programs, summer camps, and special youth programming. This role is responsible for creating strong daily and weekly plans, supervising staff, maintaining accountability, and ensuring that programming is safe, engaging, well-run, and aligned with Dragon's Den's mission. The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable managing people, giving direct feedback, addressing performance concerns, and following through consistently. This person must be able to build a positive team culture while also maintaining clear standards for professionalism, child supervision, participation, and program quality.
Key Responsibilities:
1-Program Planning and Oversight Create and oversee weekly and daily plans for after-school programming, summer camps, and special events Design, adapt, and coordinate activities that are engaging, age-appropriate, and aligned with Dragon's Den's five pillars Ensure programming reflects organizational goals, participant needs, and grant commitments Coordinate calendars, field trips, partner activities, family events, showcases, and enrichment opportunities Ensure staff have clear plans, materials, and expectations before programming begins 2
  • Staff Supervision and Accountability Supervise program staff, including counselors, instructors, lead staff, and support staff Set clear expectations for staff professionalism, participation, child supervision, and program quality Provide regular coaching, direct feedback, and performance support Address staff concerns, performance issues, and areas of inconsistency promptly and professionally Document concerns and follow up appropriately in partnership with the Executive Director and contracted HR consultant Support hiring, onboarding, training, and development of program staff Help build a team culture that is organized, respectful, accountable, and child-centered 3•Youth Supervision, Culture, and Safety Help ensure youth programming is structured, safe, welcoming, and engaging Support staff in maintaining consistent routines, expectations, and behavior standards for children Step in when needed to address patterns of challenging child behavior and strengthen staff response Promote a culture of accountability, inclusion, and belonging for all participants 4•Operations and Coordination Oversee staffing coverage, schedules, activity flow, and daily logistics Troubleshoot staffing gaps, scheduling problems, and day-to-day program issues Ensure supplies, room setup, and materials are prepared in advance Help create and maintain systems that improve consistency, communication, and follow-through across the program Monitor the quality of implementation and make adjustments when needed 5•Data, Documentation, and Compliance Oversee attendance, activity logs, behavior documentation, and other program records Ensure documentation is completed accurately and consistently Support compliance with internal procedures, grant expectations, and safety requirements Work with leadership and relevant staff to ensure needed program data and information are available for reporting and evaluation 6•Grant Participation and Compliance Design programs that are aligned with grant expectations Document compliance with grant expectations, including attendance, program accomplishments, challenges, and recommendations for the following year Document any challenges that occurred and communicate them promptly to leadership Provide data and other pertinent information to the Grant Writer and Executive Director to support reporting, evaluation, and future applications 7•Family and Community Engagement Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding program updates, concerns, and successes as needed Help coordinate family events, showcases, and opportunities for parent engagement Represent Dragon's Den professionally with families, partners, volunteers, and visitors Additional Duties Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director to meet the needs of the organization Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Social Work strongly preferred; candidates with a degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, Youth Development, or a closely related field and significant relevant experience will also be considered Master's degree in Social Work or a related field preferred At least 3 years of experience managing people in a school, camp, youth program, nonprofit, or similar setting Strong experience supervising staff, giving feedback, and maintaining accountability Experience working with children with behavioral, emotional, or trauma-related needs strongly preferred Ability to address performance concerns directly, respectfully, and consistently Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills Experience creating or coordinating youth activities and programming Ability to maintain structure and support behavior management in youth settings Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Google Workspace; experience with scheduling, documentation, or data systems is a plus Commitment to Dragon's Den's mission and values Clearances Required PA Criminal History Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Fingerprint Clearance, and Mandated Reporter Training must be completed before starting.
