Job Description

The Nutrition Educator works under the supervision of the Nutrition Education Project Manager to provide nutrition and wellness education to Fayette County with specific focus on benefit eligible communities (Seniors, SNAP recipients, pre-schools, after-school programs, etc.)
Roles and Responsibilities:
Provides nutrition and wellness programs to eligible sites and participants Works with the Project Manager to coordinate and deliver community outreach programs Creates schedules, plans, and programs based on funder objectives, program goals, and community need Coordinates with community agencies and facilities (Community Centers, Senior Centers, Senior High Rises, Adult Training Facilities, Head Start Programs, Preschools, After-School Programs, Libraries, Public Housing Sites and other similar facilities) to deliver on-site programs Coordinates with community foodbanks, Shop Thru and the central foodbank warehouse to develop monthly nutrition newsletters with emphasis on distributed food items Provides program participants with recipes specific to the use of foodbank and food pantry distributed items Ensures participant completion of funder program evaluation forms to measure program effectiveness and nutrition behavioral changes Works with farmers markets to facilitate the use of produce vouchers and eliminate barriers to accessing fresh produce Coordinates with retail sites to provide health food options at point of sale Documents program participation, results, and demographics for completion of program reports Completes required state training to maintain credentials as a Nutrition Education Professional Performs other related duties as assigned Education/Experience Associates degree in nutrition, education, or closely related field (or equivalent combination of experience and training) Experience delivering nutrition and wellness education programs Experience conducting marketing and outreach activities preferred Ability to plan and coordinate outreach activities Ability to effectively conduct presentations to large groups Additional Requirements Ability to successfully pass Federal and State criminal background check and State of Pennsylvania Child Abuse screening
