POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Programs Specialist serves as the lead operational coordinator for the Programs Team and supports the planning, implementation, and execution of council-wide programming initiatives, outdoor experiences, volunteer engagement opportunities, and community partnerships. This position works collaboratively with the GSLE Specialist and Camp & Outdoor Specialist while providing a higher level of operational leadership, coordination, and independent responsibility. While not directly supervising team members, this role helps guide workflow alignment, communication, accountability, and program execution across the department. The Lead Programs Specialist manages operational details, timelines, systems, and logistics for large-scale programs and supports the Director of Programs by helping oversee day-to-day implementation needs. This position requires strong organizational leadership, adaptability, initiative, collaboration, and problem-solving skills while ensuring high-quality Girl Scout Leadership Experience opportunities throughout the council jurisdiction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as the lead operational coordinator for major programs and department initiatives. Assists with planning, communication, logistics, timelines, staffing coordination, and program implementation. In partnership with the Director of Programs, the Lead Programs Specialist will coach the team on strategic initiatives to grow girl programming, maintain girl retention and reach girls in our 39-county service area. Find creative ways to grow field trip opportunities and programming at Camp Trivera and Ekowah with an implementation plan that requires minimal paid staff support. Collaborates with the GSLE Specialist, Camp & Outdoor Specialist, Camp Trivera Manager and Camp Ekowah Ranger to ensure aligned, high-quality program delivery. Works closely with Resource Advancement, Marketing, Recruitment, Volunteer Services, Product Program and Customer Care to make sure the programs team is openly communicating with other departments and leading a collaborative team effort on all

programming. Helps establish and maintain department systems, workflows, procedures, and operational expectations. Supports Day Camp, outdoor programming, troop experiences, volunteer-led programming, and council-wide events. Anticipates challenges and helps problem solve operational and logistical needs with minimal oversight. Assists with onboarding, mentoring, and supporting staff, volunteers, vendors, and community partners. Helps track program progress, ensure deadlines are met, and maintain consistency in program quality and participant experience. Supports sponsorships, partnerships, marketing efforts, evaluations, reports, and continuous program improvement initiatives. Works collaboratively across departments to support organizational priorities and strategic goals. Professionally represents the organization and fosters environments of diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES
May provide leadership, mentorship, and operational guidance to staff, volunteers, and committees during program planning and implementation. Does not directly supervise the GSLE Specialist or Camp & Outdoor Specialist positions.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, recreation, nonprofit management, education, youth development, or related field preferred. Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in program coordination, event management, youth development, outdoor programming, nonprofit leadership, operations management, or volunteer management preferred. Experience leading complex projects, coordinating multiple stakeholders, and managing operational logistics preferred.
ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Clearance of background check and drug screen. Become a registered member of GSUSA. Access to reliable transportation. Must carry and show proof of 100/300/100 liability coverage on personal vehicle. Must be willing to work flexible hours including evenings, nights, and weekends. Travel as required. Valid Oklahoma state driver's license.
COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office systems including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to learn and utilize program management and donor database software systems.
SELECTIVE ABILITIES & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 40 pounds. Occasional exposure to outdoor and adverse environmental conditions. Extended periods of standing, walking, and active program participation. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in individual and group settings, including public speaking opportunities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee will work in both office and program environments alongside staff, volunteers, and participants. The noise level in the work environment may vary from moderate to loud depending on programming activities. Due to the collaborative and hands-on nature of this position, regular in-person work is required, though occasional remote work opportunities may be available.

$50,000.00 per year
