Job Description

Job Overview The School Nutrition Services Coordinator (Program Management) is responsible for a full range of professional duties with an emphasis in leadership development and program management. Roles and Responsibilities The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate. Manages Annual Agreement Applications in Virginia's Single Sign-on Web System (SSWS), updates the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) programs annually, and ensures United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and state required data is submitted as required. Accomplishes compilation and submission of applications for school-year and summer programs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to due dates. Assists the director in leading the program through federal and local audits. Collaborates with the Nutrition Coordinator to support LCPS website, social media platforms and work closely with the Communications team to drive engagement, media releases for programs such as (NSLP, SBP, CACFP, SFSP, CEP, SEBT) expand reach and support organizational initiatives. Supports the Nutrition Coordinator in processing special dietary accommodations and updating student allergy database in school nutrition software system to ensure compliance and student safety. Collaborates with the Nutrition Coordinator to configure and manage POS systems and remote digital menu boards to ensure accurate pricing, menu updates and operational efficiencies. Provides supervision in conjunction with the director for Free and Reduced-Price Meal Program (FARM) to include development of annual FARM application and verification of FARM applications as per USDA regulations; provides leadership to staff processing applications; serves as liaison with LCPS administrative team. Exhibits a working knowledge of all federal, state and county regulations applicable to the school food service program and provides guidance to managers; conducts federal accountability reviews and provides technical assistance to managers for free and reduced students. Oversees annual professional development requests of administration and school staff in conjunction with the director, assists director with leadership development of administrative and school staff and assists director with agenda and execution of monthly department meetings. Coordinates Back to School training; locates and reserves training space, develops meeting theme, agenda and plan; develops objectives for training sessions and assigns instructors; coordinates and communicates technology needs prior to training; coordinates all post-training activities. Collaborates with Assistant Director to annually update all handbooks and employee expectation documents (SNS Employee, Manager handbooks) and Onboarding manual. Attends regional Virginia Department of Education meetings and represents the department at various local, state, and national professional events. Qualifications Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable. Education Bachelor's degree in food service management, Nutrition, or a directly related discipline Experience Five (5) years of experience USDA sponsored meal programs Licenses and Certifications ServSafe certification required; Registered Dietitian (RD) and/or Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR) credential preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated ability to manage and develop staff while maintaining high performance standards and solve complex operational challenges Supports departmental goals of compliance, safety and customer service Knowledge of school nutrition regulations and compliance requirements Commitment to safety, security policies and student confidentiality Working knowledge of HR practices, accounting systems and relevant computer applications Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage professionally with diverse departments and LCPS community stakeholders Physical Requirements The following provides a brief description of physical requirements for this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
