Full Job Description Position Summary Position Summary:
Pierce College is seeking to fill three vacancies for Credentials Evaluators! The starting salary range for this position is $47,988.00 to $56,880.00, with most candidates starting at $47,988.00. This is a full-time, permanent, classified, overtime-eligible position with the Pierce College District and is eligible for up to two days of remote work per week after the probationary period. This position reports directly to the Dean of Enrollment Services and Registrar and requires regular and consistent attendance. Evaluations plays an integral role in assisting our diverse community of students in successfully navigating transfer of credit to Pierce College and completion of their educational path. The Credentials Evaluator provides a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for students who have applied to graduate or who transfer credits from other institutions. They empower students through active listening and support that honors each student's journey and educational experience. The Credentials Evaluator provides organization-wide responsibility for reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating a wide variety of educational transcripts for academic programs and the college, and exercises professional judgment to fully leverage student equitable access and outcomes. The incumbent will interact with deans, division and program chairs, advisors, financial aid staff, military and college representatives, students, and other evaluators to assess credits and communicate policies and procedures. The Credentials Evaluator assists the college in removing barriers to student success and communicates with students to increase their understanding of decisions, processes, and policies. The work requires high attention to detail, advanced computer skills, people-centered skills, and extreme confidentiality. The incumbent is expected to become an advanced user of PeopleSoft. Direct Student Support Provide holistic and culturally sustainable support services to new, continuing and returning students to advance the engagement and success of marginalized and minoritized students. Coordinate the services and activities of Evaluations. Serve as a primary contact in the areas of degree audits, transfer credits, and Academic for Credit for Prior Learning (ACPL). Actively guide students through the transfer credit evaluation and degree audit processes. Analyze degree audits for students, communicate results to students and advisors. Post credentials for students, meet reporting deadlines. Evaluate transcripts and determine eligibility for transfer courses. Utilize resources, including college catalogs, course descriptions, syllabi and web based college catalog database research, interpret and analyze courses to make informed decisions about transfer applicability. Keep up to date on Academic Credit for Prior Learning Credit (ACPL) guidelines, current policies and procedures. Evaluate and transcribe ACPL, including Joint Services Transcripts (JST) and Credit by Testing, including AP/IB/Cambridge/ CLEP/DANTES. Process requests from students to have Career Technical Education (CTE) dual credits transcribed to their Pierce College transcript, using CTE Dual Credit program guidelines. Maintain academic advisement reports, verify accuracy and ensure reports are in alignment with Learning Council and/or program changes. Reach out to students who are close to graduating but may have stopped attending; identify barriers and provide support and encouragement to return and complete the remaining requirements for their degree(s)/certificate(s) Advise students, staff, faculty and the public regarding program content and policies for degree requirements. Recommend and provide alternative courses of action to assist students in meeting degree requirements and ensuring a smooth transition for transfer students. Confer regularly with program faculty advisors and their staff regarding the interpretation and implementation of program policies and participants. Maintain extensive knowledge of the Pierce College catalog, including courses, programs, and other general academic and degree information. Utilize People Soft, artificial intelligence, and other computer applications at an advanced level to streamline the evaluation and transcribing process for students to increase efficiency within the department. Support to Customer Service and Engagement Actively support, engage in, and work to advance Pierce College's goals for equity and commitment to anti-racism in order to provide access and support for our diverse community of learners. Contribute to an atmosphere that makes new, current, and returning students feel affirmed, empowered, and valued. Communicate in-person, email, phones, etc., in order to provide assistance and support in a culturally affirming manner. Respond to inquiries and assist students with evaluations processes, and other general information. Support other team members during peak cycles. Partner with other colleagues to address complex student issues. Serve as a point of contact for students and advisors, responding to questions, gathering information to respond to students, and making referrals as needed. Participate in external engagement efforts, such as community open house events. Follow Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines to maintain confidentiality. Department Support Contribute to the overall goals, services and activities of Student Services. Confer with colleagues across the district to ensure materials, procedures, services, and activities are consistent. Participate in district shared governance through committee participation and/or other engagement. Attend meetings, trainings, professional development, district events, etc., as a representative of Student Services programs, services, and activities. Train others. Ensure communications, correspondence and program materials contain accurate and up-to-date information. Maintain an up-to-date manual on evaluation policies and procedures. Consistent, regular, and punctual attendance at work. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications Required Education:
Some college-level coursework from an accredited college or university OR equivalent professional experience in a related field. For an some college-level coursework, the equivalent amount of professional experience is six (6) months. Required Experience One (1) year or more years' experience providing direct customer service over the phone, via email and in person. in a high touch and diverse environment. Progressively responsible experience in an office or administrative support role requiring close attention to detail, data entry and the ability to perform mathematical computations. Experience with advising, student records, or other relevant work. Experience maintaining records (manual and electronic) and performing data entry with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Advanced computer skills to manage data and utilize database programs to upload, download, and merge data; and proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft 365 office suite, and databases. This is a full-time (40 hours per week), classified, overtime-eligible position with the Pierce College District. This position is permanent after serving a 6-month probationary period. The primary work location is the Pierce College Fort Steilacoom campus. This position is eligible for up to two days of remote work after the probationary period. Standard work hours are between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours required. This position may be subject to reassignment between campuses or sites. This position reports directly to the Dean of the Enrollment & Registrar and requires regular and consistent attendance.Salary & Benefits:
The starting salary range for this position is $47,988.00 to $56,880.00 annually with annual increments up to $58,380.00. The salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and related experience. Most candidates will start at $47,988.00. Your paycheck is just part of the total compensation package. There is an outstanding benefits package which is worth an additional value equivalent to about 30% of your salary.
