Employee Program Assistant State of New York

- Full-time The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform.
- Develop and maintain ongoing communication and a working relationship with labor-management committee members and consult with them in planning and achieving committee goals and objectives.
- Administer and manage the daily activities of
NYS/UUP JLMC
programs including preparing and responding to routine inquiries and requests in a timely manner.- Keep abreast of current and emerging issues affecting UUP-represented employees and campuses pertaining to professional development and employment opportunities. Assess these issues and needs and recommend appropriate professional development programs that will further employees' professional development.
- Review and process applications for reimbursement and communicate with applicants, labor-management committees, SUNY System Administration, and campus staff as needed.
- Assist with developing and recommending proposals that are tailored to address specific employee and campus needs, for consideration by the Executive and statewide labor-management committees.
- Assist with monitoring and evaluating the quality of programs, projects, instructors, curriculum, and program delivery, and recommend changes to the Executive Labor-Management Committee and statewide labor-management committees as appropriate.
- Assist with the design and development of customized materials, outreach efforts and marketing strategies to ensure information regarding professional development programs and workshops is disseminated to UUP-represented employees and campuses.
- Assist with presenting information regarding
NYS/UUP JLMC
programs to campus staff, the UUP delegate assembly, and other events as needed.- Assist with facilitating labor-management committee meetings, preparing and presenting materials and information, preparing minutes, and following-up as required.
- Assist with making recommendations for allocating labor-management funds, monitoring the expenditures of these funds, and working with OER and SUNY System Administration finance staff.
- Assist with preparing summary reports on program usage and expenditures to present to the Executive Labor-Management Committee, statewide labor-management committees, campus staff, and as requested internally.
- Assist with monitoring and updating the
NYS/UUP JLMC
website to ensure information is accurate and current.- Perform other duties as assigned. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience.
- Experience working in a labor-management environment, or relevant experience including working in a collaborative environment that includes teamwork, cooperation or joint effort from both sides in joint problem solving.
- Some familiarity with a college setting, preferably the State University of New York System or similar organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a diverse population.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to research, analyze and organize data, and prepare reports.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize assignments.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Substitutions:
four years of specialized experience or associate's degree and two years of specialized experience may substitute for bachelor's degree; J.D. or master's degree may substitute for one year of specialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for two years of specialized experience.
