Job Description
The Mission In collaboration with the MVSD After School Program (ASP) and our supportive community partners, we are proud to announce the launch of the MVSD Wanderers' Theater . This traveling performing arts collective is designed to meet the growing need for community arts and healthy Out-of-School Time (OST) opportunities in our area. We are seeking a high-energy, multifaceted Director to lead this expansion, developing new summer programs and enriching our school-year offerings through a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to the arts. This is a part-time, hourly position with hybrid remote hours (primarily in-person during the school year and summer). 20 hours a week year-round, with requirements to travel between all of our schools in the towns of Swanton, Highgate, and Franklin. Key Responsibilities 1.
Artistic & Educational Leadership Production Oversight:
Manage the full lifecycle of four productions annually , overseeing recruitment, auditions, rehearsals, and performances during after-school hours and summer sessions.
Integrated Curriculum:
Design and host intentional classes that span the arts, STEM, SEL (Social-Emotional Learning), career readiness, mentorship, and health and wellness.
Spotlight & Drama Classes:
Facilitate specialized workshops that provide professional-grade instruction and leadership training. 2.
Youth Empowerment & Governance Youth Performing Arts Council:
Establish and manage a student-led council to provide youth with a voice in program development, fostering leadership skills and a sense of ownership within the collective.
Mentorship:
Actively mentor students in career readiness and technical theater skills. 3.
Operations & Community Engagement Traveling Logistics:
Coordinate the unique requirements of a mobile theater program, ensuring the "Wanderers" can bring high-quality performances to various community locations.
Liaison:
Serve as the primary bridge between the program, parents, community partners, and the MVSD After School Program.
Data Management:
Track essential data points including participation, student growth metrics, and program outcomes to support grant reporting and sustainability.
Qualifications Theatrical Background:
Strong experience in directing, stage management, or performing arts education.
Youth Development Focus:
A passion for OST (Out-of-School Time) programming and the ability to integrate SEL and wellness into artistic practice.
Leadership:
Proven ability to manage a team and facilitate a Youth Council.
Organization:
Excellent administrative skills, including data tracking and logistics for a traveling program.
Schedule:
Availability to work after-school hours during the academic year and lead full-day programs over the summer.
