Job Description
We are hiring for an individual who resides in the
Vancouver, Washington Area:
This position requires meeting with individuals and their teams both virtually and in-person. Job Summary The Positive Supports Specialist provides relationship-based positive support services that promote the well-being and stability of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This includes life skills support, consultation with families and provider staff, and the development and implementation of positive support strategies that foster inclusion, independence, and long-term success. Principal Activities/Duties Direct Services Maintain an active caseload of supported individuals seeking positive support services. Provide deliverables as directed by the Washington State Positive Supports Program Director, including: Life Skills, Staff & Family Consultation, Stabilization, and Specialized Evaluation & Consultation services sessions. Required plans and reports within the time allotted by state guidelines. Meet minimum billable hours (at least 65% of work hours) as directed by the Washington State Positive Supports Program Director. Documentation and Communication Complete and maintain accurate client records (session notes, tracking sheets, calendars, etc.) and employment records (timesheets, time-off requests, etc.). Write Initial Plans and Quarterly and End of Services Reports in compliance with Washington State and Among Friends timelines and guidelines. Communicate scheduling needs, challenges, and client-related concerns promptly to the Washington State Positive Supports Program Director. Collaboration Consult with supported individuals, families, provider staff, and other members of the support team to ensure consistent positive supports.Equipment Required This position requires:
Laptop computer (or tablet and keyboard) Smartphone Internet access on both devices Travel by car. Accountability This position must maintain eligibility to be an Among Friends Positive Supports Specialist. Complete annual training to meet federal, state, and Among Friends requirements Track the required and completed hours and coordinate with direct supervisor to ensure they are completed. Ensure all deliverables and service goals are met as agreed upon with the Washington State Positive Supports Program Director. Maintain an accurate weekly calendar of all billable and non-billable hours. Maintain an accurate weekly timesheet of all billable and non-billable hours. Complete and maintain accurate notes from sessions and team meetings, ensuring they are ready to be submitted if requested by the state. Complete client tracking sheet information daily. Education and Experience Qualifying degree (Doctorate, Master's, or Bachelor's) in the fields of social work, sociology, psychology, education, child development, gerontology, nursing, or a related field. At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (e.g., DSP, caregiver, special education teacher, or paraprofessional, etc.)Other Experience/Training Requirements:
Training/certification in Crisis Intervention & De-escalation (e.g., Collaborative Problem Solving, MANDT, Right Response, etc.) Understanding of human sexuality and the Hierarchy of Basic Human Needs Experience and comfort discussing topics such as sexuality, gender, boundaries, and consent from a professional and positive developmental perspective. Additional Professional Requirements Ability to follow all applicable Washington Administrative Codes, Federal Medicaid rules, and HIPAA regulations. Proficiency in Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets), Microsoft Office, email, search engines, and related technology. Reliable internet, computer/laptop, and smartphone. Reliable transportation for travel. Represent Among Friends in a professional way at times.Job Types:
