- Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) position is responsible for logistics and communications regarding the City's Youth Advisory Panel.

GENERAL COMPETENCIES
Job Specific- Every employee in this position must be able to: Interact proficiently in all forms of verbal and written communication Plan and execute meetings and events Create and sustain records, meeting minutes, and meeting agendas Create and distribute monthly agendas Communicate with City Manager's Office and City Council on meetings and events Draft proclamations Coach individual panel members by providing constructive and positive feedback and guidance Write letters of reference for panel members upon request Meet once a month and make agendas Coordinate events and projects Plan, organize, and schedule Youth Advisory Panel retreat, summit, and other gatherings Meet with outside parties to plan future YAP events and direction Purchase, or suggest what to purchase regarding, food and supplies for YAP meetings and events Update forms and website information Help organize, set up, and support the Youth Advisory Panel meetings including the YAP leadership team as well as the YAP member meetings Create flyers and other marketing material to advertise YAP Assist with various duties as needed at City facilities, especially College Hill Library and WPL Teen Services All employees are expected to provide excellent customer service, communicate in an effective manner both verbally and in writing, display professionalism and integrity, work efficiently, effectively and accurately, work independently and as part of a team, take initiative, solve problems, display good judgment, take ownership for delivering a high-quality product or service, have regular and punctual attendance, and effectively handle emergency situations.
Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and Certifications Required :
One (1) to two (2) years of college coursework Highly motivated to connect young people to city government and assure that their voices are heard in a meaningful way Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook Valid driver's licensePreferred :
Bachelor's Degree in an educational or public policy field, or equivalent experience Experience working with youth including teaching experience, camp leader, college orientation, or similar Physical Requirements Work is sedentary in nature and requires sufficient stamina and strength for: Constant sitting to perform daily tasks; occasional walking through a multilevel facility to retrieve information; frequent standing, sometimes for extended periods Frequent squatting, reaching above shoulder, and twisting to file documents and lift supplies and materials; occasional bending, kneeling, climbing, balancing, and reaching below shoulder to store documents, material, and supplies Constant light grasp, fine manipulation, and handling to perform daily duties; occasional firm grasp to safely use equipment Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing and/or pulling of up to ten (10) pounds to move material and supplies; occasional lifting, pushing, and/or pulling of up to 25 pounds with dollies and cartsWORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed indoors. This is primarily sedentary office work, with the opportunity for remote work as approved. Must demonstrate ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including the ability to retrieve information from various locations in the office when needed. Exposure to periods of high activity and stress under demanding conditions. The position requires a great deal of communication with City employees, the public, and outside agencies. The position requires occasional travel to and from high schools and middle schools located throughout the City of Westminster. Required Materials and Equipment This position requires the use of a laptop computer (provided by the City) and mobile phone to send text messages.PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
