Job Description
Johns Hopkins, founded in 1876, is America's first research university and home to nine world-class academic divisions working together as one university. The Center for Humanitarian Health at The Johns Hopkins School of Public Health is seeking a Program Officer . The Program Officer will support the coordination and implementation of its research and humanitarian programs. Reporting to CHH leadership, the incumbent will help advance field-based and operational work, maintain partnerships with a broad range of international stakeholders, and ensure CHH administrative and financial aspects move forward effectively across the Centre's portfolio. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Oversee the progress of CHH research and humanitarian projects, ensuring alignment with timelines, objectives, and deliverables. Coordinate with internal teams and external partners, including NGOs, UN agencies, academic institutions, and government bodies. Support the development and implementation of field-based research and humanitarian health projects, providing programmatic and technical input as needed. Strengthen internal CHH procedures and processes to improve program management and operational effectiveness. Identify potential donors and funding opportunities, and contribute to the development of concept notes, proposals, research protocols, and ethics applications. Conduct evidence reviews and contribute to strategic discussions on CHH's research, programmatic, fundraising, and operational priorities. Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in a related field Three years of related experience Preferred Qualifications Relevant programmatic and/or research experience in humanitarian health or related areas. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English; proficiency in another language is preferred, particularly Spanish, French, or Arabic. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and deliver high quality results. Experience working in humanitarian or fragile settings. Experience with research in humanitarian emergencies.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
