Job Description
- The Bureau of Environmental Sciences and Engineering (ESE) is a team of over 125 professionals committed to reducing environmental and engineered hazards in NYC.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO
- Support staff in performing compliance review, data entry, records management, communication, correspondence, reporting and other clerical activities.
- Assist in providing customer service to all building owners and facilities (by phone, e-mail and in writing) in submitting required reports to meet regulatory requirements.
- Providing NYC Health Department administrative functions such payroll processing, timekeeping, or employee benefits administration.
- Assist in preparing analyses of Bureau's expenditure options in designated areas of monitoring and identifying.
- Prepares and monitor the progress of budget modifications, prepare summary reports on expenditures.
- Assist in ESE purchasing activities to meet the program business needs.
- Assist the Director in managing the OTPS spending for the Division; works closely with Bureau liaisons.
- Supporting the day-to-day office functions maintaining inventory office supplies and materials.
- Providing administrative work in the capacity of assistant to Program leadership.
- Work closely with the Personnel Unit to resolve time and leave issues with staff.
- Train and supervise administrative support, prepare tasks and standards, and conduct annual performance evaluations.
- Manage and prepare public request (e.g., FOIL or data requests) including interaction with NYC Health Department data and file management systems.
- Oversees the maintenance of electronic and hardcopy files which includes cataloging files to an off-site storage facility and retrieve upon request.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Prior office/administration experience and strong organizational skills are required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
- Strong interpersonal skills are required
- Ability to work independently as well as function as a member of a team.

- 12626 Minimum Qualifications A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school; or A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory full•time professional experience working in one or a combination of the following areas: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area.
