Position Title:
Summer Program Coordinator - Youth Engagement & Leadership About The House of Darla The House of Darla (HOD) is a youth-centered nonprofit creating a safe space for youth to grow, lead, and thrive. Through programs such as Summer of Success, Art of the Heart, and Fit & Fun, we provide hands-on experiences that build confidence, leadership, wellness, and workforce readiness for young people ages 14-24. Job Overview The House of Darla is seeking a passionate, reliable, and engaging Summer Program Coordinator to support our summer programming. This role plays a key part in creating a structured, fun, and impactful environment where youth feel supported, inspired, and empowered. We are seeking individuals who bring creativity, energy, and innovation; those who can facilitate programming, lead activities, and contribute their unique interests and talents to enhance the youth experience. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with teens and young adults, thrives in a fast-paced, community-centered environment, and is excited to contribute to meaningful youth development work. Schedule & Availability Program operates Monday - Thursday between 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM Coordinator is expected to be available for approximately 20-24 hours per week Flexibility is provided for the contractor to select and manage their schedule within program hours, in coordination with program needsFridays:
Occasional remote meetings (approximately 1 hour) Limited Friday or weekend availability may be requested (1-2 instances throughout the program) We value work-life balance while ensuring consistency and reliability for youth programming. Key Responsibilities Youth Engagement and Facilitation Build positive relationships with participants ages 14-24 Facilitate and lead group activities, workshops, and program sessions Encourage participation, leadership, and teamwork Support youth in exploring their interests, skills, and ideas Program Support Assist with daily setup, facilitation, and breakdown of activities Help guide youth through structured sessions and transitions Maintain a positive, safe, and engaging environment Organization and Operations Support attendance tracking and daily check-ins Assist with materials, supplies, and space organization Help maintain cleanliness and structure within The Space Events and Collaboration Support community events, field trips, and program activations Work collaboratively with staff, interns, and youth leaders Participate in daily team debriefs and reflections Skills and Qualities Strong communication and interpersonal skills Organized, dependable, and proactive Energetic, creative, and adaptable Ability to manage group settings with patience and confidence Creative & Interest-Based Experience (Strongly Encouraged) We are looking for individuals who bring creativity and innovation to the space. Experience or interest in any of the following is highly valued: Media and content creation (podcasting, video, photography) Art and creative expression Athletics, fitness, or wellness Music and performance Business, entrepreneurship, or leadership Technology, gaming, or digital platforms Design, branding, or creative projects Hobby-based skills or personal passions that can be shared with youth Qualifications Must be 18 years or older Must be able to pass a background check Experience working with teens or young adults preferred Background in education, mentoring, youth programs, or community work is a plus Compensation & Structure 1099 Independent Contractor position Total stipend: $2,500-$3,500 for up to 8 weeks Contractor will manage their schedule within agreed program hours while meeting weekly availability expectations Additional Opportunity Opportunity for ongoing position contingent on performance, program needs, and available funding Work Environment Flexible, fun, and engaging atmosphere with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
