Prevention and Community Engagement Program Coordinator
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Manager of Prevention and Community Education, the Prevention and Community Engagement Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing prevention initiatives, advancing community engagement efforts related to the Rhode Island Sexual Assault Coalition's programs and priorities, and cultivating strategic partnerships that support the agency's mission and goals. This position engages communities across Rhode Island through statewide prevention programs, initiatives, trainings, and collaborative meetings. Working closely with internal programs and external partners, the coordinator identifies and responds to prevention, education, and training needs while serving as a central point of contact for community engagement and partnership requests.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the implementation of Rhode Island (RI) Sexual Assault Coalition activities and violence prevention initiatives, including the planning, coordination, and delivery of public awareness campaigns, prevention education, training, advocacy, community engagement, and outreach efforts that advance the Coalition's mission, strengthen community response, and promote systems change. Support the advancement, implementation, and monitoring of Rape Prevention and Education (RPE) initiatives to ensure compliance and program requirements. Assist with program development, grant reporting, and evaluation efforts to support effective implementation and continuous improvement of initiatives. Support and facilitate collaboration with RI Sexual Assault Coalition partners and community partners to identify issues and priorities, and to develop strategies and community-based responses to sexual violence. Provide outreach, technical assistance and support to community entities to create new and/or support existing partnerships, create protective environments, and increase the reach of Day One messaging, programs and services. Design, plan, and facilitate interpersonal violence trainings and focus groups for diverse audiences, while maintaining a safe and confidential space that encourages questions and provides access to support and information as needed. Serve as the central hub for all training requests, coordinating and triaging trainings to the appropriate departments while collaborating with trainers across the agency to strengthen cross-department collaboration and overall training capacity. Work with the Day One team to plan, implement and evaluate prevention initiatives including social media campaigns and community/virtual events. Communicate and collaborate with other Day One departments to share expertise and increase effectiveness of Day One programming. Participate in ongoing individual supervision, team meetings, and agency meetings. Pursue ongoing training and professional development opportunities to strengthen expertise and enhance effectiveness in prevention, education, and community engagement To act as spokesperson for the agency through educational presentations, meetings and written reports. To perform all other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Strong interpersonal skills to the development and facilitation of educational content and presentations for a wide range of ages and skill levels, from pre-school through professionals Verbal and written communication skills and computer literacy The ability to deal effectively in stressful situations and crises as they arise Knowledge and understanding of sexual assault/abuse, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual exploitation dynamics Sensitivity to the issues of family and community violence sexual assault/abuse, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual exploitation dynamics Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations with multiple priorities in a complex, dynamic and changing environment. Facilitation skills Knowledge of prevention frameworks Completion of the Victim of Crime Helpline training BCI and DCYF Clearances. •Successful completion of Victim of Crime Helpline training is required within 6-12 months of hire.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is an on‑site position and includes work at the Day One office as well as in school and community‑based settings. Remote or virtual work for project‑specific assignments with supervisory approval, Position requires flexible hours and some evening and weekend hours Position requires some in-state travel and access to reliable transportation
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree in relevant field Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and navigating databases 2-3 years of experience in community outreach and engagement •Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred but not required.
