The incumbent is clinically and administrively responsible for the Columbia VA Health Care System Pient Aligned Care Team (PACT) Same Day Access (SDA) Clinic loced the Columbia VA Medical Center and serves as an Emergency Department Mental Health Social Worker, a minimum of one day per week. The Incumbent would be expected to shift focus from

to ED MH in times of staff shortage in the Emergency Department. For

Clinic, the Incumbent manages the daily operions, develops policies and procedures for
PACT SDA
program operion and prepares reports and stistics for facility, VISN, and/or nional use. Incumbent is responsible for coordinion, monitoring and evaluion. Incumbent is responsible for staff training and development for

For ED MH Social Work, the incumbent practices in the Emergency Department to provide emergency psychiric services as a licensed mental health provider for pients in a psychiric crisis. The incumbent will track da reled to the VA's Suicide Prevention Efforts, specifically Suicide Risk ID Metrics, which include ED/UCCSRE and SPED da.

Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Educion (CSWE). Gradues of schools of social work th are in candidacy stus do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verificion of the degree can be made by going tohttp://www.cswe.org/Accredition to verify th the social work degree meets the accredition standards for a masters of social work.
Licensure:
You must be licensed or certified by a ste to independently practice social work the master's degree level.

  • For assignments the GS-9 level, VHA may waive the licensure or certificion requirement for persons who are otherwise qualified, pending completion of ste prerequisites for licensure/certificion examinions.
VHA social workers who are not licensed or certified the time of appointment must become licensed or certified the independent, master's level within three years of their appointment as a social worker. Grandfher Provision. A Social Worker employed in VHA on the effective de of the qualificion standard (9/10/2019) who did not meet all the basic requirements in this standard, but who met the qualificions applicable to the position the time they were appointed, the following provisions apply: Employees may be reassigned, promoted up to and including the full performance (journey) level or changed to lower grade within the occupion but may not be promoted beyond the journeyman level or placed in supervisory or managerial positions. Employees in an occupion th requires a licensure/certificion/ registrion only higher grade levels must meet the licensure/ certificion/registrion requirement before they can be promoted to those higher grade levels. Employees who are appointed on a temporary basis prior to the effective de of the qualificion standard may not have their temporary appointment extended or be reappointed on a temporary or permanent basis until they fully meet the basic requirements of the standard. You must be licensed or certified the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Experience Requirement:
You must possess one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstre possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstring progressively more professional competency. Examples of specialized experience the GS-11 include, but are not limited to: assessing and documenting identified behaviors or symptoms of abuse, neglect, exploition and/or intime partner violence; use of clinical social work skills; maintaining pient privacy and confidentiality per policies, handbooks or directives; acting as an advoce with approprie community service providers and agencies when it serves the best interest of the pient and family members/caregiver; independently assessing the psychosocial functioning and needs of pients and their family members, identifying the pient's strengths, weaknesses, coping skills, and psychosocial acuity. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of program coordinion and administrion which includes consultion, negotiion, and monitoring. Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluing assigned program area(s). Ability to provide training, oriention, and guidance within clinical practice.
