  • Full-time Position Title Outreach Specialist Reporting to Prevention Services Coordinator Position Summary The Outreach Specialist provides child abuse and neglect prevention education and awareness programming to schools and other youth-serving organizations throughout the community.
This position supports outreach initiatives, program data collection and reporting, and community engagement activities. The Outreach Specialist also assists with grant-related outcome measurement and performs additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Schedule & Compensation This is a non-exempt hourly position with a starting rate of $21.00 per hour. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday with occasional evening or weekend community events. We recognize that candidates may have different scheduling needs and offer flexibility in structuring this role. Candidates may be considered for either: Traditional 12-Month Full-Time Schedule
  • year-round employment and work schedule; or Reduced-Year Schedule (approximately 10 months)
  • active work schedule aligned with the academic/program calendar, including scheduled time off during summer months.
Compensation structure and pay distribution will be discussed during the hiring process and may include year-round pay distribution for reduced-year schedules.
Estimated annual earnings:
Approximately $43,680 for a traditional 12-month schedule Approximately $36,120 for a reduced-year 10-month schedule Reduced-year employees may elect to have compensation distributed over 12 months for consistent year-round pay. This position is eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws. All hours worked must be accurately recorded. Eligible employees may participate in organizational benefits programs subject to plan terms and eligibility requirements. Duties and Responsibilities Program Implementation Implements and evaluates activities related to school outreach, mandated reporter, safe sleep education, parenting, and all other best practice, proven effective programs the organization undertakes, as assigned. Conducts research-based best-practice programs designed to reduce child abuse and neglect, and risky behaviors. Develops and implements recruitment strategies to increase the number of clients the programs serve. Compiles, analyzes, and reports on trends in the programs. Compiles, maintains, and reports monthly, quarterly, and annual program statistics. Analyzes trends in the program, identifying issues and developing and recommending solutions to the Executive Director. Represents CAPA at community fairs and events. Performance Quality Improvement Helps CAPA meet its quality improvement, evaluation, and reporting requirements. Contributes to developing outcomes and indicators and setting targets. Participates in the collection and interpretation of data. Miscellaneous Maintains confidentiality requirements of the agency. Reports immediately to the Department of Social Services or Law Enforcement any suspicion of abuse or neglect as required by law. Participates in and represents CAPA at community events and provides support at CAPA events, as assigned. Performs any other related duties as may be necessary to the functioning of the agency or at the request of the Director of Programs or Executive Director. Qualifications University degree or community college diploma in education, social work, human services or other related fields and/or previous applicable experience Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent public speaking skills Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Sound computer skills, including word processing and database management An understanding of the non-profit, voluntary, and social services sector Demonstrated ability to interact professionally and effectively with staff, clients, DSS staff, Court officials, and the general public Comfortable working with children Age 21 years or older Ability to work flexible hours Access to reliable transportation, valid driver's license, approved insurance coverage (to include being approved by CAPA's automobile insurance carrier) and clean driving record Ability to climb stairs, bend, crouch, and lift 50lbs and may require long periods of sitting and standing Must successfully complete all required background screenings, including annual child abuse registry and criminal background checks, in accordance with organizational policy and applicable law.
