4/30/2026 11:59 PM Central Position Description The Program Specialist 2, located in Metro Water Services, will be responsible for utilizing internal and external communication methods to educate Metro Water Services stakeholders about stormwater. Performs other duties as required to meet the public education requirements of Metro's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer (MS4) NPDES stormwater quality permit issued by TDEC. Employees at Metro Water Services work around the clock to ensure high quality drinking water, the best in storm water management and wastewater treatment, soil and water conservation, waste and recycling for the residents of Nashville-Davidson County and some surrounding areas. It takes electricians, chemists, engineers, mechanics, information technology workers, customer service representatives, utility equipment operators and more working together to meet our resident's needs. Typical Duties Help ensure an engaged and balanced social media presence of Stormwater topics. Assist in developing and implementing public outreach strategies, programs, and campaigns related to Stormwater. Maintain records of MWS public outreach events and activities for NPDES Annual Report. Develop materials and activities for inclusion into school-aged and college curriculum regarding Stormwater Management concepts and projects, including the importance of trees. Coordinate with Metro Schools, private schools, and homeschool personnel on Stormwater-related student projects, EnviroScape and Watershed Game loaner programs, Tree Curriculum, and teacher trainings. Coordinate with MWS HR and Metro Schools personnel on development and implementation of Stormwater-related career materials, activities, and job shadowing opportunities for various stormwater positions. Develop materials and Stormwater-related activities for inclusion into Summer Camps with water-related themes, including EnviroScape-related programs. Attend and participate in community events, summer camps, and other potential stormwater outreach opportunities. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree. •Additional teaching experience may be considered in lieu of degree on a 1:1 ratio.
