Job Description

Under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Director, the Parks and Recreation Program Coordinator oversees and manages the historical operations of the city museum, Pioneer Village. This position plays a key role in securing program support including facilitation of grants to sustain and enhance the Parks and Recreation programs. The position contributes to event planning and community engagement initiatives that benefit Parks and Recreation programs and facilities. The Program Coordinator serves as the Pioneer Village Curator and as a liaison between the City of Corsicana and the Navarro County Historical Society, fostering strong partnerships to promote historical preservation and education.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Grant Development:
Leads fundraising initiatives by identifying potential program funding sources, writing grant applications, and proposals. Develop sponsorship opportunities and donor programs to support the Parks and Recreation projects, programming, and operational needs, including park improvements and events.
Event Planning & Public Relations:
Promotes Pioneer Village and Parks & Recreation programs through strategic use of social media, community outreach, and networking. Attend special events and summer recreation activities, assist with program planning, scheduling and registrations. Maintain brochures for the Parks and Recreation Department.
Educational Programming & Tours:
Develops engaging educational programs and interactive tours to attract schools, organizations, and tourism to Pioneer Village. Able to work with children and youth to deliver hands-on activities and programs. Assists with the development of educational and interpretive programming for Parks & Recreation facilities beyond Pioneer Village.
Historic Preservation & Maintenance:
Oversees the upkeep and restoration of Pioneer Village structures. Collaborates with city departments and external contractors for maintenance projects involving City owned structures. Buildings owned by the Historical Society will be maintained by the Historical Society. Organizes and maintains exhibits, ensuring that displays are informative, engaging, and aligned with the mission of the Parks and Recreation department.
Volunteer & Staff Coordination:
Assists in the hiring, training, and supervision of staff and volunteers. Works closely with volunteers to support Parks and Recreation efforts and enhance community involvement. Ability to foster and maintain cooperative working relationships with volunteers and staff.
Budget Management & Record Keeping:
Assists in the development and oversight of the budget for Pioneer Village and ensures that goals align with operational, and preservation needs. Maintains accurate records regarding program participation, collection of tour fees, and tracking of donation and grant information. Other Duties as

Qualifications:
Requirements, Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required College degree in history, nonprofit management, or closely related field preferred. Experience working in museums or historical preservation operations and knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of historical or museum administration preferred. Ability to present information effectively and engage the community, experience in fundraising, or grant writing is highly desirable. Experience organizing successful events and ability to utilize social media marketing tools to promote initiatives and events. Experience and proficiency in using various office equipment, computers and software including, excel, word, and Canva. Must be highly motivated, organized, have attention to detail and exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
Physical Dem ands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk and hear; use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and perform repetitive movements of hands or wrists. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be capable of walking and presenting tours throughout the village and possess the ability to walk and navigate gravel paths and uneven surfaces, climb steps.
Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this class, an employee performs highly detailed work; deals with multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment; and interacts with others encountered in the course of work, including frequent contact with customers and/or the public and dissatisfied individuals.
Work Environment:
The position primarily works in an office environment with occasional outside exposure during village tours, events, and operations. Position requires working various events including some evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Must have and maintain a valid Texas Motor Vehicle Driver s License. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record. Punctuality and regular attendance is required. Must satisfactorily complete a one-year probation period.
