Primary Purpose:
Ensure Dyslexia and MTSS program fidelity by providing support & guidance according to federal and state laws. Support implementation of the dyslexia screening to evaluation process and share a common vision for program improvement and student achievement of students in the MTSS and dyslexia intervention program.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's Degree in related field preferred Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in related field Bilingual Certification required Special Education certification preferred or required within 1 year of employment Dyslexia Teacher or specialist experience required
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong knowledge of dyslexia instruction across grade levels Knowledge of State and Federal laws around Dyslexia, Section 504 and IDEA Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting Have utilized a variety of instructional strategies with diverse student populations Able to navigate district database software, spreadsheets and word processing Exemplary organizational skills & able to interact with diverse groups of professionals and individuals Demonstrated competency of digital-age work, technology, and instructional software Actively support the efforts of achieving district goals, objectives and initiatives
Experience:
Three (3) years successful teaching experience Two (2) years' experience with Dyslexia Assessment or as a Diagnostician Experience planning and delivering professional development Leadership experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Management Assist with training and mentoring providers of dyslexia instruction on strategies to develop their capacity to reflect upon practice, generate ideas and increase professional self-awareness. Support lead dyslexia teachers with the dyslexia screening process, intervention progress monitoring collaborations, and evaluations for students with dyslexia. Assist Lead Dyslexia Teachers in creating Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) statements, annual IEP goals and objectives, and specially designed instruction for students with dyslexia and related disorders Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary evaluation team (MDT) as requested by Special Services Coordinator Track and monitor the academic progress of identified students with dyslexia and related disorders. Work with Special Education Facilitators, administrators, and campus providers of dyslexia instruction to determine caseloads. Monitor the screening and referral process for dyslexia and related disorders. Provide training, instructional coaching, and ongoing support to bilingual/monolingual dyslexia providers of dyslexia instruction to ensure high-quality implementation of structured literacy for multilingual learners. Attend dyslexia multidisciplinary meetings and ARD meetings for students with dyslexia and related disorders as requested by Coordinator of Special Services. Assist in development and management of data collection system. Work cooperatively with campus providers of dyslexia instruction to collect, organize, and format data required to accurately submit district dyslexia PEIMS data in a timely manner. Communicate effectively the state and district dyslexia policy and guidelines to providers of dyslexia instruction, teaches and staff. Assist Special Services Coordinator and Special Education Designee with initial and ongoing professional development for general and special education staff, providers of dyslexia instruction, parents and community. Assist Special Services Coordinator in articulating the vision for the district's dyslexia program and monitoring dyslexia programs on all campuses. Assist Special Services Coordinator with planning the necessary time, resources, and materials to support accomplishment of dyslexia educational goals. Comply with district policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations. Communication Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills. Able to build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, administrators and parents. Able to establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, teachers, administrators and students. Demonstrate effective communication skills to present dyslexia information accurately and clearly. Keep abreast of all current, research based and effective assessment and instructional practices for students with dyslexia and relevant laws and TEA regulations. Attend professional development. Other Maintain confidentiality. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Salary Range Min. $ 70,270 (Based on previous experience) Salaries are determined by the number of completed and eligible years of service at an accredited school. Salary is based on 205 days. If working less than 205 days, the salary will be less.
