Primary Purpose:
Provide leadership in developing and implementing the district's bilingual program, including LPAC and TELPAS processes, while supporting classroom instruction to improve outcomes for Emergent Bilingual (EB) students. Collaborate with teachers and district staff to implement effective instructional practices and ensure program compliance.
Qualifications:
Education Bachelor's Degree Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements in bilingual education, preferred Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of curriculum and instruction Knowledge of strategies and materials for the education of bilingual students Knowledge of LPAC and TELPAS requirements Ability to utilize technology and information resources Ability to communicate effectively with bilingual parents and students Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to fluently read, write, and speak in English and Spanish Experience Three years experience as a bilingual teacher, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management ? Coordinate all LPAC processes for elementary EB students, including identification, placement, annual reviews, exit decisions, monitoring, documentation, and ensuring accurate PEIMS coding. ? Serve as the LPAC representative in ARD meetings for dually identified students to ensure alignment of services. ? Monitor the academic and language progress of EB students and ensure compliance with state, federal, and district requirements. ? Collaborate with the curriculum team to align instruction with academic standards that support English language development and timely program exit. ? Consult with teachers to provide appropriate instructional support, including curriculum modification, scaffolding, and acceleration for EB students. ? Observe classroom instruction, provide feedback, and model effective teaching strategies for EB students. ? Plan and deliver staff development on instructional strategies, compliance requirements, and best practices for supporting bilingual/ESL students. ? Evaluate the effectiveness of the bilingual/ESL program using student achievement data and recommend improvements as needed. Assessment and Accountability ? Supervise and coordinate TELPAS testing on elementary campuses, including training, scheduling, and test security. ? Compile, maintain, and submit all required reports, records, and documents accurately and in a timely manner. ? Ensure accurate PEIMS coding and compliance with all state and federal program requirements. Communication ? Communicate and consult with parents, administrators, counselors, teachers, and community agencies regarding student needs and progress. ? Provide translation and interpretation services for written and verbal communication as needed. ? Translate district documents and communications to support parent and community engagement. Other ? Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members. ? Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. ? Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. ? Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations. ? Adhere to the district's safety policies and procedures. ? Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business. ? Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance. ? Other duties as assigned.
