Job Description

Overview:
The Senior Citizen Director in Reeves County plays a pivotal role in developing and managing programs and services for the senior population. This position involves coordinating activities, advocating for senior citizens, and fostering a supportive and inclusive community environment.
Responsibilities:
Program Development:
Develop, plan, and implement programs and activities tailored to the interests and needs of senior citizens, including social, recreational, educational, and wellness programs. Collaborate with community organizations, local agencies, and volunteers to expand program offerings and resources available to seniors.
Outreach and Engagement:
Conduct outreach efforts to identify and reach out to seniors in the community, including those who may be isolated or have limited access to resources. Develop strategies to engage seniors in program participation and community involvement.
Advocacy and Support:
Advocate for the rights and interests of senior citizens, including access to services, benefits, and resources. Provide information, guidance, and support to seniors and their families on a variety of issues, including healthcare, housing, financial assistance, and legal matters.
Coordination and Collaboration:
Coordinate with local agencies, service providers, and community partners to ensure comprehensive and integrated services for seniors. Facilitate partnerships and collaborations to leverage resources and maximize impact.
Event Planning and Coordination:
Plan and organize special events, outings, and celebrations for seniors, such as holiday parties, health fairs, and educational workshops. Coordinate logistics, transportation, and other arrangements for events.
Volunteer Management:
Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to assist with program delivery, event coordination, and other tasks as needed. Foster a positive and supportive volunteer environment, recognizing and appreciating volunteers' contributions.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program activities, participant demographics, and outcomes. Prepare reports, evaluations, and assessments to track program effectiveness and communicate impact to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in social work, gerontology, human services, or a related field preferred. Previous experience working with senior populations and coordinating programs and services. Knowledge of issues affecting seniors, including healthcare, social services, and aging-related challenges. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a collaborative and inclusive approach. Compassion, empathy, and patience when working with seniors and their families. Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite. Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
• Periods of sitting at desk and working on computer and periods of standing and walking around during events. • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, use hands, fingers, push, pull, reach, balance, stoop, talk and hear.
