Summer Bridge Peer Mentor (Temporary, Grant Funded)  Salary $15.00 Hourly Location 2600 South First Street Temple, TX Job Type Part-Time Staff Job Number 00517 Division Academic Affairs Department Vice President of Academic Affairs Opening Date 04/15/2026 Closing Date Continuous FLSA Non-Exempt Salary Grade Classified Salary Grade Ranking Hourly Total hours required per week 30-35 Minimum Requirements High School Diploma/GED and must be enrolled in courses at Temple College for the upcoming semester at the time of hire.
PREFERRED
STEM-H Majors. Earned a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher at Temple College. Bilingual. Work Schedule Summer Bridge Program hours will be Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Daily attendance before and after the program hours may be required. This is an on-site position. The essential duties of the role must be performed in person during prescribed work hours. SUMMARY:

L.E.A.D.S.
Summer Bridge Program provides a seamless transfer from high school to college for students pursuing STEM-H degrees. It is designed to help students majoring in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics and Health Sciences fields overcome various academic and financial barriers by providing them with opportunities and resources to succeed. This experience exposes students to hands-on STEM activities and helps them network with their peers and faculty. Our program will be located at our main Temple College campus for two weeks. Peer mentors will help oversee participants and guide them through the transition to college. The summer program will operate from July 20, 2026, through July 31, 2026. Employment will be for the duration of the program only. However, a week of training before the summer bridge program will be required. Qualifications (Required and Preferred) High School Diploma/GED and must be enrolled in courses at Temple College for the upcoming semester at the time of hire.

N/A Job Duties and Responsibilities The incumbent will: Ensure the safety and appropriate behavior of program participants. Create a positive environment for students and peers. Maintain professional communication with
L.E.A.D.S.
staff, faculty, and students. Be actively engaged in the sessions with students and encourage participation. Serve as a "mentor" to students, encouraging a commitment to educational achievement. Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL EFFORT
Light physical activity is performing non-strenuous daily activities. May require lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds. The position will require sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions will include a well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned interior/office work environment with adequate ventilation, as well as outdoor settings.
