Summer Camp Facilitator Salem, UT Job Details Contract From $2,000 a month 13 hours ago Qualifications Community service projects for children Volunteer coordination for social programs Volunteer management Public speaking Child supervision Lesson planning Activity planning for children Teaching Working with youth Camp Full Job Description Job Overview The Lead Facilitator serves as the primary program guide and energy-setter for Camp SOAR, a one-week service-learning camp designed to develop youth through principles of Attitude, Gratitude, and Service Before Self. This individual is responsible for delivering high-quality daily programming, creating an engaging and values-driven environment, and ensuring a smooth and impactful experience for all participants. Responsibilities Pre-Camp Planning & Preparation Participate in pre-camp planning meetings and alignment sessions Prepare lesson delivery, talking points, and facilitation strategies Assist in identifying supply needs and program logistics Support volunteer onboarding preparation as needed Training & Team Alignment Participate in and help lead volunteer training sessions prior to camp Set expectations for camp culture, student engagement, and behavior standards Train volunteers on daily flow, transitions, and their roles within activities Program Delivery Lead large-group sessions, including daily kickoffs, lessons, and reflection activities Facilitate engaging, age-appropriate instruction aligned with Camp SOAR curriculum Guide students through meaningful discussions that reinforce camp values Culture & Environment Set and maintain a positive, inclusive, and high-energy camp culture Model and reinforce principles of Attitude, Gratitude, and Service Before Self Ensure each student feels seen, valued, and supported Schedule & Flow Management Oversee daily program schedule and ensure timely transitions between activities Coordinate with volunteers to maintain smooth flow throughout the day Adapt in real-time to changes while maintaining program quality Volunteer Leadership & Support Provide direction, coaching, and encouragement to volunteer team members Lead brief daily huddles to align staff on goals, schedule, and expectations Support volunteers in managing student engagement and behavior Student Experience & Safety Monitor overall student engagement, behavior, and well-being Address challenges proactively and collaborate with team to resolve issues Ensure a safe and structured environment at all times Post-Camp Evaluation & Reporting Participate in post-camp debrief with leadership team Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation for future camps Assist in capturing stories, highlights, and impact moments from the week Contribute to a brief summary report or evaluation as requested Qualifications Experience in teaching, youth programs, facilitation, or group leadership Strong public speaking and group engagement skills Ability to lead with energy, positivity, and adaptability Demonstrated ability to manage groups of youth in a structured setting Alignment with the mission and values of The Candy Bomber Foundation Preferred Qualifications Background in education, youth development, or STEM programming Experience leading camps, workshops, or service-learning programs Leadership or coaching experience with teams or volunteers
Contract Details Position Type:
Independent Contractor Duration:
One-week camp per session (plus pre-camp planning, training, and post-camp evaluation)
Schedule:
Pre-camp planning & training: 8-12 hours per week prior to camp Camp week: Daily, approximately 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM (plus brief pre/post coordination) Post-camp evaluation: 4-7 hours evaluation and reporting
Compensation:
$2000 per session, possibly transitioning to long term contract
Location:
Camp will be held at Nebo School District Advanced Learning Center, 161 E 400 N, Salem, UT 84653.
