Position Overview Spy Hop seeks a full-time Statewide Media Arts Mentor to join a dynamic team of three full-time media teaching artists, collectively bringing creative, community-based programming to young people ages 8-19 across Utah. This role is designed for a filmmaker who is excited to share their craft with youth in a wide range of learning environments, from classrooms and community centers to assemblies, workshops, and longer-term residencies. No two days or teaching environments are the same, and this role calls for an educator who is nimble, adaptable, and energized by working with diverse youth in ever-changing spaces. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about positive youth development, progressive education, and mentorship, and who thrives in creative, collaborative, and ever-changing environments. Candidates should bring strong experience in film production and post-production, along with the ability to integrate related media arts skills such as audio, music, or design when relevant. A strong artistic voice, a commitment to equity and inclusion, and the ability to convey Spy Hop's mission through compelling, youth-centered storytelling are essential.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach community programs throughout the year, in the State of Utah, as a part of the following Spy Hop programs: ○ POPS (Professional Outreach Program in Schools), workshops, assemblies, and outreach, including up to four regional, week-long trips around the state.

○ Voices of the West, an immersive, week-long film bootcamp that travels to three rural communities, empowering youth to develop their voices and skills through storytelling and filmmaking. ○ Contracted partnerships with schools and community organizations, and events to provide engaging arts experiences for youth, including youth in the state's custody. ○ TOP (Teen Outreach Program). This position is trained to deliver Wyman's evidence-based youth prevention curriculum in schools.

• Provide mentorship to students while encouraging self-expression and the development of students' artistic identities.
• Design, implement, and deliver dynamic curriculum for all Community-based Programs, including in-house Summer and Spring Break Camps at Spy Hop for youth ages 8-11.
• Collaborate with Spy Hop's mentor staff, marketing team, and program directors to outreach and recruit for all programs.
• Collect and report demographic program data for students served in collaboration with the Statewide Programs Director.
• Administer required program evaluation and assessment tools as needed.
• Assist the development team as needed with program narrative, donor recruitment, funder recognition, and student-produced media.
• Participate in facilitating media arts activities in collaboration with Spy Hop's youth prevention arm, the Central 9th Youth Coalition.
• Oversees the archiving of all student-produced work related to community programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

An ideal candidate has:

• Bachelor's Degree in arts education/fine arts/filmmaking or related field. In lieu of a degree, 2-5 years of relevant experience teaching youth and or filmmaking experience.
• Demonstrated experience and a passion for working with youth ages 8-19 from all backgrounds.
• Able to work collaboratively, give and receive constructive feedback, and have a willingness to learn.
• Able to work in multi-site environments.
• Extensive experience working in digital media production, including audio and design, is a plus.
• Experience in developing engaging project-based curriculum for diverse youth.
• Experience with public speaking in front of large audiences.
• Expertise in using and teaching media production apps on Mac computers/devices.

• Skills in file structure, management, and archiving.
• Project management skills, able to meet deadlines and juggle multiple projects.
• Strong writing, oral, and communication skills.
• Ability to self-manage priorities and workload.
• Keen awareness of emerging media trends.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
• Acting/performance experience is a plus.
• Spanish speaking is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary:

Commensurate with education and experience; salary range $40,000 - 50,000. The optional tiered benefit package starts with 50% health, dental, and vision, 3% IRA match, 15 days PTO, 15 paid holidays, 7 wellness days, and opportunities for professional development.
