Agency Employee Only - A Job Duties The Virginia Department of Veteran Services is seeking an Education Program Specialist to support the Veterans, Education, Transition & Employment (VETE) department. The role of the Education Program Specialist is to review, evaluate, and approve education and training programs for the enrollment of veterans and other eligible persons seeking education and training benefits from the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs under the Montgomery and Post 9/11GI Bills. The SAA also conducts on site visits to include risk-based surveys at facilities as directed by the US Department of Veteran Affairs surrounding factors such as complaints, persistence, transfer rates, percentage of student increase and more. This is agency only posting. Minimum Qualifications Advanced collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleges/universities, private career schools and vocational schools' administrators, local/state/federal government officials and business owners/operators. Advanced skills in comprehension, planning, analysis, and decision making. Superior oral and written communications skills required Ability to effectively use software, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access Ability to independently manage assigned workload. Time Management is essential. Ability to multi-task and independently manage a high volume of work. Ability to create and deliver high quality training to persons of various levels of intellect. Ability to work in a team environment. Must be able to pass a federal background check Additional Considerations Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in administration, law, vocational education or other related fields (advanced degree desired) Experience managing federally funded programs, including interpreting and implementing federal regulations and managing budgets.
