ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position is loced in the main NGA facility in Springfield, VA. This position supports the Staff Director and Executive Assistant with administrive functions similar to those in a law office/environment. The Office of General Counsel is made up of about 50-55 employees consisting of torneys, paralegals, and legal program specialists. You must be able to obtain and retain a Top Secret security clearance with access to SCI. In addition, you are subject to a Counterintelligence Polygraph examinion in order to maintain access to Top Secret informion. All employees are subject to a periodic examinion on a random basis in order to determine continued eligibility. Refusal to take the examinion may result in denial of access to Top Secret informion, SAP, or unescorted access to SCIFs. Employees with SCI access and who are under NGA cognizance are required to submit a Security Financial Disclosure Report, SF-714, on an annual basis in order to determine continued eligibility. Failure to comply may negively impact continued access to Top Secret informion, Informion Systems, SAP, or unescorted access to SCIFs. NGA utilizes all processes and procedures of the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Non-executive NGA employees are assigned to five distinct pay bands based on the type and scope of work performed. The employee's base salary is established within their assigned pay band based on their unique qualificions. A performance pay process is conducted each year to determine a potential base pay salary increase and/or bonus. An employee's annual performance evaluion is a key factor in the performance pay process. This position is a DCIPS position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1601. DoD Components with DCIPS positions apply Veterans' Preference to preference eligible candides as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 USC, in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement. For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandory Qualificion Criteria to include educion (if required). In addition to the mandory qualificions, experience in the following is desired: 1) Experience working in a legal office/organizion and/or experience as a legal assistant with support to one or more of the following areas: administrive law; nional security law; internional law; federal employment law policies, procedures, and programs; legislive proposals and reviews; informion technology law; litigion; tort claims; ethics; privacy and civil liberties; U.S. Government informion practices to include the Freedom of Informion Act (FOIA); intelligence oversight; acquisition law; or intellectual property law. 2) Experience providing legal assistant services in support of the U.S. Military, Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, or other U.S. Government agencies. 3) Experience naviging ambiguity by adapting to new demands or informion and handling situions with multiple variables and/or unknowns. 4) Ability to prepare and organize evidence to support a variety of legal mters. 5) Practical knowledge of legal terminology.
