Job Description

Island Volunteer Caregivers (IVC) is looking for a compassionate, skilled program manager to join our team in a contract, part-time role supporting the Old Friends Club. The program is slated to begin late fall of 2026. Part of the program manager's role will be to help develop and implement the program. Old Friends Club is a nonprofit adult daytime memory program offering engaging, purposeful activities for adults living with dementia — while providing much-needed respite for family caregivers. The Club will be open 5 hours per day, 1 or 2 days a week, and will serve up to 12 members each day. The Program Manager leads the program alongside a Program Assistant and volunteers, creating a warm environment where members feel safe, valued, and engaged. This is a deeply rewarding role for someone who brings both creativity and compassion to their work. Part-Time, contractor position
Schedule :
2+ days/week, 7 hours/day What You'll Do Create a welcoming, respectful environment that encourages engagement and belonging among Members. Design and lead social and cognitive activities — conversation, games, art, music, exercise, and more. Build and publish a monthly activities calendar. Lead the Program Assistant and volunteers, fostering an inclusive and effective team atmosphere. Ensure Member safety throughout the program day and provide direct care when needed. Manage intake of new Members and communicate supportively with families. Schedule and coordinate volunteers. Participate in quarterly training. Minimum Qualifications Experience working with people living with dementia or other cognitive disorders. Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate an ongoing activity program. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with people living with cognitive challenges. Commitment to maintaining appropriate boundaries and confidentiality.
