Domestic Abuse Program Shelter Advocate 3200 Hilltop Avenue, Wausau, WI 54401 From $20 an hour - Full-time From $20 an hour - Full-time Join our team and help transform lives! The Women's Community currently has a position available as a Domestic Abuse Program Shelter Advocate .
FLSA STATUS
Exempt, Full-time, $20/hour
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the DAP Coordinator, provides crisis intervention, support services, and shelter coverage for domestic and sexual violence victims.
Duties:
Program Management Collects and maintains relevant statistics, including client case notes as required. Completes all required reports in a timely manner. Assists Program Coordinator in preparing grant reports. Attends all required agency meetings as scheduled. Has scheduled shifts of shelter coverage. Direct Service Provision Provides advocacy, crisis intervention, supportive counseling services to individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence. Provides advocacy for program clients throughout their stay in the shelter. Assists clients with filling out paperwork and filing Restraining Orders and ensures meeting with other advocate to attend RO hearing. Provides advocacy regarding legal, medical, financial, and other areas as needed by client. Provides information and referrals and general program and issue information. Provides assessment of individuals seeking shelter. Performs intakes and exit interviews with shelter residents. Consults with Program Coordinator and other staff regarding shelter resident concerns. Act as primary person to answer support line. Provides assistance with Crime Victim Compensation. Must possess ability to provide non-judgmental services. Must be familiar with the dynamics of domestic and sexual abuse on adults and children. Bi-lingual fluency is a plus. This is an in-person (not virtual) job.
