Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Project Controls Specialist to assist with leading planning, execution, and delivery of a complex remote infrastructure project. This role focuses heavily on CPM scheduling, cost and earned value analysis, collaborative planning, and risk management. Main Responsibilities
Project Scheduling & Controls
Develop, maintain, and manage detailed CPM (Critical Path Method) schedules for heavy civil construction project
Perform frequent schedule updates, progress tracking, and variance analysis
Identify schedule risks, critical path impacts, and recovery strategies
Communicate schedule performance and forecasts to stakeholders
Cost Management & Earned Value
Track project budgets, commitments, and actual costs
Perform earned value analysis (EVA) to measure project performance and productivity
Prepare cost forecasts, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions
Support financial reporting and ensure alignment with project objectives
Quantity Takeoffs & Production Tracking
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for key work items
Track installed quantities against budget and schedule
Analyze productivity rates and production performance
Support field teams with data-driven insights for improved execution
Collaborative Planning & Stakeholder Coordination
Lead collaborative work plan development with internal project teams
Facilitate workshop-style planning sessions involving project stakeholders
Coordinate closely with project owners and third-party construction administration teams
Negotiate sequencing, phasing, and execution strategies to align expectations
Risk Management
Identify, evaluate, and document project risks and opportunities
Lead risk analysis efforts and maintain risk registers
Develop risk mitigation strategies and assign ownership of risk elements
Continuously monitor and adjust risk strategies throughout the project lifecycle
Subcontractor Management
Analyze subcontractor bids and evaluate cost competitiveness and scope completeness
Lead subcontractor selection and procurement processes
Monitor subcontractor performance relative to cost, schedule, and quality expectations
Communication & Remote Coordination
Maintain consistent availability via phone and Microsoft Teams for team coordination
Provide clear and timely communication to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders
Qualifications
Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Extensive experience in heavy civil construction (e.g., highways, bridges, earthwork, utilities)
Proficiency in CPM scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project)
Strong understanding of earned value management and project controls
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and stakeholder negotiations
