Assistant Project Manager - HVAC RimePro Inc El Cajon, CA Job Details Full-time $90,000 - $120,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Mechanical knowledge Full Job Description Position Overview The Assistant Project Manager supports the successful execution of commercial mechanical construction projects, with a primary focus on HVAC systems and mechanical scopes, while plumbing experience is also highly valued. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to coordinate project documentation, procurement, scheduling, and day-to-day project activities from preconstruction through closeout. Projects may include commercial, federal, military, healthcare, industrial, and government facilities, requiring strong organization, communication, and technical coordination in fast-paced construction environments. The ideal candidate has a background in mechanical HVAC construction, with experience supporting military or government projects strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities Assist Project Managers with the coordination and execution of HVAC and mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through completion. Support management of project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and project logs. Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to support procurement and project schedules. Work closely with field teams and Superintendents to monitor project progress and resolve project issues. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and financial tracking throughout the project lifecycle. Track material deliveries, equipment lead times, and procurement schedules to support field operations. Participate in project meetings with clients, contractors, engineers, and internal teams. Support project closeout activities including punch lists, O&M manuals, and turnover documentation. Assist with maintaining compliance on government, military, or federally funded projects, including required documentation and reporting. Utilize project management software to maintain schedules, documentation, and project communication. Qualifications 2-5+ years of experience in mechanical construction or project engineering/project coordination roles. Strong background in HVAC systems and mechanical construction required; plumbing experience is a plus. Experience working for a mechanical contractor or MEP contractor preferred. Experience supporting military, federal, public works, or government projects strongly preferred. Strong understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC equipment, piping, ductwork, and controls coordination. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced project environments. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting projects in federal, military, healthcare, industrial, or mission critical sectors. Familiarity with preconstruction coordination, procurement tracking, and subcontractor management. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred. Knowledge of mechanical codes, safety standards, and quality control processes.
