This role manages a high volume of service calls, repairs, tenant improvements, and service-related projects while ensuring responsiveness, quality workmanship, safety compliance, and profitability. This position supports RK Electric's growing service division and requires the ability to manage multiple service jobs and special projects simultaneously while maintaining technician productivity, strong customer relationships, and efficient project execution. Projects managed in this role may range from routine service work to electrical projects approaching $1M in value. The ideal candidate brings a strong electrical field background and is comfortable walking job sites, troubleshooting electrical systems, and developing scopes of work for service repairs and upgrades. This role requires the ability to balance hands-on technical understanding with project management responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Service Project Management
  • Manage electrical service calls, maintenance work, tenant improvements, and small-to-medium project scopes from initiation through completion.
  • Conduct site walks with clients to assess existing conditions, gather project scope, and develop pricing for service repairs, upgrades, and small project work.
  • Prepare and present service proposals, estimates, and change orders based on field assessments.
  • Prioritize and coordinate incoming service requests to ensure timely response and efficient execution.
  • Manage multiple service jobs and projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, schedule, and profitability. Scheduling & Dispatch
  • Coordinate with field technicians and electricians to schedule service calls, repairs, and maintenance work.
  • Adjust schedules as needed to address emergency calls and urgent customer needs.
  • Ensure service work is appropriately staffed and aligned with technician availability and project priorities. Client Coordination
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding service work, troubleshooting, and maintenance needs.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and reliable service delivery.
  • Assist clients in identifying opportunities for system upgrades, repairs, and preventative maintenance solutions. Budget & Cost Control
  • Prepare service proposals, estimates, and change orders.
  • Track job costs, labor, and materials to ensure service work remains profitable.
  • Monitor project budgets and provide cost updates as needed. Field Coordination
  • Provide direction and support to service electricians and technicians.
  • Assist with troubleshooting field issues and developing solutions for electrical repairs and upgrades.
  • Ensure service work is completed efficiently and according to company quality standards.
  • Procurement
  • Coordinate purchase of materials, tools, and equipment required for service jobs and repairs.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to ensure materials are delivered in a timely manner. Documentation
  • Maintain accurate service records including work orders, service reports, change orders, and invoices.
  • Ensure job documentation is properly completed to support billing and project tracking.
  • Service Operations & Technician Utilization
  • Manage and optimize service technician scheduling, utilization, and productivity to ensure efficient response to client requests.
  • Monitor billable hours, labor efficiency, and service job profitability.
  • Work closely with field technicians to ensure service work is properly documented, scoped, and billed.
  • Ensure service tickets, work orders, and job reports are accurately completed and submitted for billing.
  • Balance scheduled work with urgent and emergency service requests while maintaining operational efficiency. Quality & Safety
  • Ensure all service work complies with NEC, local electrical codes, and company safety standards.
  • Promote safe work practices and compliance with OSHA and company safety policies. Business Development Support
  • Identify opportunities for additional service work, preventative maintenance contracts, and system upgrades.
  • Support efforts to grow RK Electric's service division and client relationships. Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical contracting, preferably including service or maintenance work.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and California electrical codes.
  • Experience managing multiple service jobs or small projects simultaneously.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Experience preparing estimates, service proposals, and change orders.
  • Proficiency with service management or project management software (Spectrum, Service Titan, Procore, or similar).
  • Journeyman Electrician experience or license preferred.
  • Valid California driver's license and ability to travel to job sites throughout the Bay Area.
Pay:
$95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
