As a Planning & Entitlement Assistant Project Manager at Y&H, you will play a key role in coordinating entitlement efforts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting communication between clients, agencies, and internal teams. This role contributes to moving projects efficiently from due diligence and conceptual planning through entitlement approvals. Working under the supervision of the Director of Planning & Entitlements or designee, this position requires a balance of technical understanding, organization, and proactive coordination. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, responsive, and capable of supporting multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Salary Range:
$60,000-$95,000
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination Assist in managing planning and entitlement projects from initial due diligence through approval. Coordinate with internal staff to ensure deliverables such as site plans, exhibits, and maps meet applicable agency requirements. Support task delegation, monitor progress, and help maintain project schedules and priorities. Contribute to a collaborative team environment and assist in mentoring junior staff as needed. Entitlement Processing Assist with the preparation, submittal, and tracking of entitlement applications, including zoning changes, variances, and permits. Review project materials for consistency with local ordinances, general plans, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate supporting documentation such as environmental studies, technical reports, and agency responses. Interface with public agencies and sub-consultants to facilitate timely processing and approvals. Client & Agency Coordination Support communication with clients regarding project status, requirements, and entitlement progress. Coordinate with project managers, agency staff, and consultants to maintain alignment and momentum. Assist in preparing for and participating in agency meetings, hearings, and public outreach efforts. Budget & Schedule Support Assist in tracking project budgets, schedules, and entitlement timelines across multiple projects. Identify potential risks, delays, or constraints and communicate them to project leadership. Support efficient resource use by helping prioritize tasks and deadlines. Documentation & Reporting Maintain organized and accurate project files, including applications, approvals, and correspondence. Prepare status updates, summaries, and supporting documentation for internal and client use. Document key meetings, agency comments, and entitlement milestones.
Qualifications:
2-5+ years of experience in planning, entitlement processing, land development, or a related field. Working knowledge of zoning regulations, land use planning, and entitlement processes. Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a team environment
Preferred Skills:
Experience working with public agencies and navigating entitlement approval processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general project tracking tools. Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work products.
