Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Earthwork Project Manager to oversee large‑scale mass earthmoving projects in the Sacramento/Lodi area of Northern California. This role is ideal for a results‑driven professional with a strong background in heavy civil operations and a commitment to delivering safe, high‑quality, and cost‑effective projects.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead all aspects of project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution for mass earthmoving and heavy civil projects.

Manage subcontractors, equipment, crews, and field operations to maintain efficient jobsite performance.

Review and interpret engineering plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and grading requirements.

Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety protocols, and quality standards.

Collaborate with owners, engineers, inspectors, and internal teams to maintain clear communication and resolve challenges proactively.

Monitor project progress, perform cost tracking, and prepare regular reports on schedule and performance.

Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork on all sites.

QualificationsMinimum 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager overseeing mass earthmoving projects.

Experience in one or more of the following project types:

Site workUnderground utilitiesDamsLeveesRoadsHighwaysLandfillsStrong understanding of grading, cut/fill operations, GPS machine control, equipment productivity, and heavy civil construction techniques.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multi‑disciplinary field teams.

Proficiency with construction management software and earthwork takeoff tools is a plus.
