Mission/Role Purpose:
The Family Research Project Coordinator will be responsible for organizing, scheduling, monitoring, and completing activities related to an NIH-funded research project focusing on families of deaf and hard-of-hearing infants and young children within California's EHDI system. This role involves coordinating and administering research study activities, assisting in project planning, and ensuring compliance with study protocols and regulatory requirements. The Family Research Project Coordinator will recruit and coordinate families who consent to participate as research subjects and must have extensive experience working with families from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, they will oversee and coordinate administrative functions and activities related to the research project with project partners, University of Rochester, Boston University, and Sacramento State University.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Family Research Project Coordinator will monitor the progress of research activities with families of deaf infants and young children, maintain accurate research records, and prepare reports as needed. They will plan and coordinate research-related meetings, implement quality control processes, and provide support to families and programs for deaf infants and young children. The Coordinator will adhere to the policies of NorCal Services for the Deaf and the University of Rochester. The duties include, but not limited to, the following: Plan and coordinate the initiation of research study protocols and establish operating policies and procedures, including specific examples of the types of research activities such as qualitative interviews, surveys, and data analysis. Promote research capacity building within community organizations, educational programs, and parent/family groups by providing training and resources for research participation and engagement. Prepare research ethics board applications to ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and regulations for conducting research with families. Develop and maintain data collection and analysis systems to support research protocols; may coordinate data collection and analysis, including identifying key metrics for evaluating research outcomes and impact on the community served by NorCal Services for the Deaf. Recruit, instruct, and coordinate research families based on study objectives, ensuring representation from diverse backgrounds and perspectives to provide a comprehensive understanding of the research topic. Ensure the smooth operation of research and data collection activities, serving as the primary administrative contact for internal staff and liaison for external organizations, while also involving community partners in the research process. Coordinate project partners engaged in research/clinical protocols and assist with research tasks as needed, including facilitating collaboration between researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders to achieve research goals. Plan and coordinate research partners for interviews and surveys with families, including recruitment and administration of support staff/project partners, to ensure effective data collection and analysis. Coordinate and prepare research activities for project investigators and researchers, outlining the expected outcomes and impact of the research project on the community served by NorCal Services for the Deaf.
EDUCATION A
bachelor's degree in a related field with research component.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years working in the role of a project coordinator, researcher, work with deaf and hard of hearing infants and children, social services, or related field. Fluent in American Sign Language and adept knowledge of Deaf culture . Demonstrated ability to outreach to target community for the purposes of research related to the project scope. Good business writing skills. Ability to collect and analyze statistical data for program enhancement, success, and compliance.
