Experience 5+ years The Natural Resource Project Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating Keep Tahoe Blue's natural resource initiatives, with an emphasis on permitting, partner coordination, proposal development and management, and contractor oversight. Working closely with the Natural Resource Director, program staff, and external agencies and organizations, this position serves as day-to-day project lead for ongoing natural resource initiatives and provides key support on natural resource pilot projects, ensuring projects remain on schedule, compliant, and aligned with program goals. The Natural Resource Project Manager manages project plans, budgets (as assigned), scopes of work, deliverables, and reporting requirements; facilitates strong relationships with partner agencies, land managers, and community stakeholders; and supports the development of competitive proposals that advance Keep Tahoe Blue's mission to protect and preserve Lake Tahoe. The Natural Resource Project manager also serves as an active participant in Tahoe's natural resource working groups that focus on advancing restoration and climate resilience. Essential Functions / Principal Responsibilities Natural Resource Initiative Leadership (Ongoing Projects) Serve as project lead for assigned ongoing natural resource initiatives that advance restoration, prevent invasive species, and build climate resilience in Lake Tahoe, coordinating timelines, tasks, budgets (as assigned), and deliverables. Develop and maintain project workplans, schedules, and internal tracking tools; provide regular status updates to the Natural Resource Director and relevant partners. Coordinate internal staff and external partners to ensure high-quality implementation and timely completion of field, planning, and reporting activities. Natural Resource Pilot Project Support Provide implementation support for natural resource pilot projects (e.g., new technologies, methods, or partnership models), including coordination, logistics, documentation, and reporting. Support pilot evaluation activities by coordinating data needs, partner feedback, and lessons learned; help translate pilot outcomes into scalable program recommendations. Permitting and Compliance Lead or support the permitting process for natural resource projects, including coordinating permit applications, supporting environmental compliance documentation, and tracking conditions of approval. Serve as a primary point of coordination with permitting agencies and land managers; ensure project activities follow applicable permit requirements, safety procedures, and best management practices. Partner Relationships and Coordination Engage in stakeholder working groups related to advancing restoration, preventing invasive species, and building climate resilience. Build and maintain effective working relationships with partner agencies, non-profits, consultants, and community stakeholders in support of natural resource program goals. Prepare meeting agendas, facilitate coordination meetings and working groups, document decisions and action items, and ensure follow-through on commitments.

Contractor / Consultant

Management Develop and manage scopes of work for contractors and consultants supporting natural resource projects; coordinate procurement steps as needed. Oversee contractor performance, deliverables, schedules, and invoicing with input from the Natural Resource Director; ensure work meets quality standards and aligns with permits, contracts, and project objectives. Outreach and Representation Represent Keep Tahoe Blue at partner meetings, public meetings, site visits, and stakeholder convenings as requested by the Natural Resource Director. Contribute to project communications by providing summaries, key milestones, and technical inputs for external-facing materials. Other Duties Supervise contractors, interns, and/or volunteers supporting natural resource projects (as assigned). Attend in-person meetings and activities as requested by the Natural Resource Director. Support program data tracking and management (via arcGIS, ESRI, etc.) as needed. Assist with Keep Tahoe Blue summer events. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience Required B.A., B.S. or M.S. in environmental science, hydrology, natural resources management, public administration, planning, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant project management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience coordinating multi-stakeholder projects, including schedules, scopes, deliverables, and meeting facilitation. Experience supporting permitting and regulatory compliance processes (e.g., coordinating permit applications, responding to agency questions, tracking conditions of approval). Experience managing contractors or consultants, including developing scopes of work, tracking deliverables, and reviewing invoices. Strong written communication skills, including the ability to draft clear project documentation, memos, and proposal content. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Ability to work effectively with teams and diverse individuals and to represent the organization professionally with partners and the public. Willingness and ability to work outdoors, potentially in inclement weather conditions; able to hike up to 3 miles. Computer proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office 365, and Google Apps. Flexibility to work nights and weekends, as required.

Preferred:

Familiarity with Lake Tahoe environmental and policy issues. Experience working with land management agencies, permitting entities, and/or public process requirements. Project management training or certification (e.g., PMP) a plus. A passion for environmental conservation and Keep Tahoe Blue's mission to Keep Tahoe Blue. Love of the outdoors. Keep Tahoe Blue Specific Requirements Employees are occasionally required to get around the basin for meetings. Employees should have means to get around sufficiently. Must be able to sit or stand at a desk and use a computer for significant periods of time. Position requires some physical activity such as bending, stooping, lifting and carrying. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. Attend Keep Tahoe Blue cornerstone events as requested, such as the Annual Benefit, July 5th Cleanup, or Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day.
