We self-perform erection with our own crews and are building into larger, more complex, and more coordination-heavy programs, including mission critical and data center work. We are looking for a senior project manager to lead that next stage. Position Summary Whitmore Steel is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex structural steel fabrication and erection projects and help strengthen project delivery across the company. This is a senior leadership role with a clear path toward Director of Operations. The person in this role will lead WSI's highest-profile projects, participate in key preconstruction and design-assist conversations, and work directly with the CEO, clients, engineers, and field teams to deliver successful projects from engineering coordination through closeout. Key Responsibilities Lead WSI's most complex structural steel fabrication and erection projects, including multi-phase commercial, industrial, healthcare, and mission critical work Lead or participate in preconstruction involvement on larger and more technical programs, including design-assist coordination, value engineering input, scope review, and package definition before bid Own project financials, including budgets, forecasting, cost tracking, billing, change orders, and margin reporting Manage procurement strategy for major buys such as steel, embeds, connection hardware, galvanizing, and other critical materials, with a focus on schedule, cost, and risk Coordinate erection planning, crane picks, rigging, sequencing, staging, and field logistics with WSI crews and project teams Manage the interface between engineering, detailing, shop production, and field erection so that what gets modeled and released can be built efficiently Strengthen project delivery systems, including templates, workflows, checklists, and reporting tools that improve consistency across the PM team Coordinate submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, ASIs, and change orders with GCs, engineers, and internal teams Use PowerFab, BIM 360, and related tools for project tracking and coordination Travel to project sites as needed for meetings, field coordination, and execution oversight Mentor junior PMs and raise the standard of project execution across the company Qualifications 8+ years of project management experience in structural steel fabrication and/or erection Strong command of the full project delivery cycle, from buyout through closeout Experience managing large, coordination-heavy structural steel projects with meaningful schedule and financial responsibility Experience working with Tier 1 GCs, EORs, detailers, fabricators, and field erection teams on schedule-driven programs Strong understanding of preconstruction and design-assist Familiarity with Tekla Structures, PowerFab, BIM 360, or similar platforms Experience in data centers, industrial, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, or other technically demanding construction environments is strongly preferred Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across different geographies while mentoring junior PMs Strong financial discipline and client-facing communication skills What Makes This Role Different Senior-level visibility and influence within the company Direct access to leadership and a clear path toward Director of Operations Opportunity to play a leading role in the company's next stage of growth Exposure to the full delivery chain: engineering, shop, logistics, and field Chance to help elevate systems, discipline, and consistency across the PM team Compensation Competitive salary based on experience, plus benefits.
