Job Description
Summary:
Dow & Associates seeks a Transportation Planner/Project Coordinator to conduct work as part of the contracted services that we provide to regional government agencies. This position is responsible for the delivery of Planning Work Program projects for two regional transportation planning agencies—the Mendocino Council of Governments and the Lake Area Planning Council—as well as coordinating with local governments throughout Mendocino and Lake counties to ensure delivery of construction projects. This position requires a high level of interaction with the public, state and local governmental staff, and elected officials. This is a full-time position located in our Ukiah office. Responsibilities include collecting and presenting data, managing planning projects, and preparing reports. In order to help local agencies with project delivery, this position will assist local agencies with meeting application and reporting requirements for various transportation funding programs. It will be important to keep up-to-date on new and existing program requirements. The position also requires research and writing skills in order to help prepare applications for funding.About Us:

Duties are illustrative and may vary. Other duties may be assigned. Coordinates with local governments throughout Mendocino and Lake Counties to ensure delivery of construction projects and Planning Work Program products Assists local agencies with meeting application and reporting requirements for various transportation funding programs Collects and presents data Manages planning projects and coordinates project timelines and deliverables Represents agencies at meetings; interacts with public, state and local government staff, and elected officials Conducts studies and prepares reports on transportation-related topics Researches and prepares grant funding applications; tracks program requirements and deadlines Coordinates operation of the Service Authority for Freeway Emergencies (SAFE) program, including system testing, inspections, technician repairs, permitting, compliance reporting, ongoing communication with partner agencies and the maintenance vendor. Performs limited routine call box maintenance, including battery replacement and unit resets, to ensure reliable operation Performs related duties as requiredQualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in planning, community development, urban design, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience A minimum of two years of transportation, planning, or local government related experience is desired Valid driver's license requiredPreferred Knowledge & Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong research, data collection, and analytical skills Ability to be a self-starter and independent worker Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines Ability to positively interact with elected officials, members of the public, agency staff, and othersBenefits:
