Project Coordinator Description:
The YReads! Project Coordinator is directly responsible for supervision, coordination, volunteer recruitment, retention and training of the YReads! tutoring program. This is a grant funded position with the potential to be renewed annually based on available funding.
Duties:
Plan and implement differentiated daily lesson/mentoring plans and support volunteers in carrying out activities. Train volunteers on program facilitation as well as literacy skills, volunteer recruitment and retention. Establish community and corporate relationships in order to promote the program Organize and present events and activities aimed at volunteer/mentor retention and appreciation. Form relationships with principal, guidance staff and reading specialists at program school sites to promote a team approach to youth mentoring. Communicate and promote the YMCA mission, goals and objectives to the legislature, employees, volunteers, members and the community at large. Prepare or help prepare the budget and ensure operations are within the approved budget. Ensure all governmental, YMCA, and organizational records and reporting requirements are in compliance. Model healthy behaviors in line with YMCA's Healthy Eating and Physical Activity standards. Train and supervise program assistant Facilitate diagnostic assessments Plan and host four family engagement activities
Requirements:
Candidate must have strong communication, organizational and supervisory skills and be able to manage large groups of children. Candidate should be independent, intrinsically motivated, and maintain a mindset of inclusivity and diversity. Must possess a Bachelor's degree in education or related field, minimum 1-2 years experience in education or volunteer development and minimum 2-years experience working with children. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license; position requires 10-15% local travel.
Pay & Perks:
