Job Description The Project Specialist plays a key role in assisting with special projects and leadership development initiatives across the Department of Planning and Development. The position assists with coordinating and tracking department projects, managing working groups and strategic planning efforts, implementing process improvement initiatives, and facilitating leadership and team development sessions. The Project Specialist will balance multiple tasks, maintain strong relationships across the department, and help foster a culture of continuous improvement. Essential Duties Support project management and project tracking throughout the department in coordination with leadership in each division. Identify sources of risk for the department's projects and collaborate with internal stakeholders to mitigate risks and ensure successful project delivery. Provide support and training to staff on the department's project management platform. Support the planning, material creation, and active delivery or facilitation of various departmental meetings, leadership and employee development programs, and organizational events. Develop and maintain methods for tracking progress for strategic initiatives and departmental goals. Assist with the review and coordination of projects with the Communications Department. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, including the use of Microsoft applications to document and streamline operations. Public Speaking Duties Speaking in retreats, conferences, and meetings. Grade The grade for this position is C41(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience. Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in business administration public administration, or a closely related field; AND Five years of administration support or related office experience; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered. Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field.
